12 Days Of Lipstick #2 – Essence All You Need Is Red

2 December, 2013

This is my first foray in to the world of Essence lip products but for the price I was impressed and if I do stumble upon a stand I will pick up a few more. Firstly the packaging.. pretty basic but I LOVE the imprinted logo in the bullet.. such a small detail but I totally appreciate that extra effort, especially from a low budget brand.

The finish on the lipstick is glossy and as such it bleeds quickly and doesn’t last long before you need to reapply but with lipstick I expect to have to touch up and a lip liner will fix the bleeding. It has a bit of a plasticky smell to it that was a little off-putting when applying but again the price is low so this isn’t a deal break.. if a YSL lipstick smelled that way it would be a different matter but I’d rather a cheaper line put money into the formula than the scent. It applied nicely, even, opaque and as I said, glossy. I’d compare it to a Rimmel Moisture Renew if I was pressed.

Overall it’s a really good lipstick for the price, the colour is bold and so long as you line your lips you shouldn’t have a problem. I think shine on a bright red like this makes it more wearable. and don’t forget the liquid liner for a classic look.

    Hi,
I have been following your blog on Bloglovin’ for around a year now and find it really informative and helpful, especially for the more budget concious! It has inspired me to start my own blog, which is mostly centred around baking but I also will be doing some budget beauty reviews. I have just done a review on the L’Oreal Micellar Solution which is on offer in Boots at the moment. I’d be really grateful if you could check it out and maybe follow me?

    Thanks

I agree, the imprint on the bullet really adds something and makes it look much more expensive than it is! Lovely colour xx
