#30in30 MAC Taupe

Remember when I spoke about 'taupe' in this post? Well this was the let down I was referring to. I get that this will look different against skintones darker than mine (ie: all skintones) but I don't get taupe from this AT ALL. It's a warm, reddish brown.. taupe to me is a cool, greigey colour.. is it just me? I mean I know it's subjective but if you're going to call a pink lipstick fuchsia it should BE fuchsia.. taupe is a little harder to nail down but still.. it doesn't even bear a resemblance to their eyeshadow of a similar name.

Initially I wasn't keen on this shade on me but I think it's just my hair.. if I go darker I can see it looking really on trend/90s with a neutral smoky eye, something Amanda Peet would have worn in One Fine Day.. it could work. It's definitely unlike anything else I have in my collection and I'm trying to choose more unique shades - especially if they're a little pricier - so although it's not an instant favourite it doesn't feel like a total waste and I think it might be one I reach for in the cooler months.. cue me running out to buy a box of chocolate brown hair dye.. somebody STOP me (said like The Mask) ..I might need to update my references/watch some new movies..
