This was a total accidental purchase, I was on a Matte Balm roll and picked this up thinking it was one of them when in fact it was one of the original stains.. boo! I didn’t really want it, the colour in a sheer, glossy finish didn’t appeal but I actually like it on. I didn’t think I’d get much wear out of it but I like the pop of colour it leaves behind – let’s face it the top, glossy layer doesn’t last long. One great use I’ve found for it is as a base for my other bright pink lipsticks, I apply this, leave it for a few minutes then wipe it off. It leaves a bright enough stain that I can apply something else on top and when THAT wears away it’s less obvious.. you feel me? I felt like a beauty genius that day, I really did.
The balm stains are all really nice but what puts me off them is the smell, the initial minty fragrance is delicious but after a while the smell turns and it’s almost dirty. I heard other bloggers talk about this when they were first released but none of mine took that turn until a few months in.. I don’t know if it’s the air or what but it spoils a great product for me. They’re easy to apply, perfect to leave in your bag because they’re firmer and less likely to melt in the heat. The stain on every shade I have is impressive and the colour selection is excellent.. but at the end of the day you don’t want a not so great smelling product directly under your nose so they don’t get as much love from me these days. I’m really hoping the same doesn’t happen to my matte balms because I might just cry.
