A New Type Of Beauty Box..

I’ve been a bad blogger. I’ve had this box for several weeks and have been putting off reviewing it because I completely could not understand the concept. I am used to the regular beauty box subscription, £10 a month, 5 surprise samples, cancel anytime. When Betrousse first contacted me I heard twice as much £, full sized products, beauty box, any other useful information was entirely lost in translation. This would probably be a good time to tell you the brand is French. Betrousse has been in operation quite successfully for several years so I’m told and now they’ve launched in the UK they understandably want to get the word out.

Before I go in to what was in the box I received, whether I liked it and all that jazz I want to talk about their website, it’s your first impression of the brand after all and it’s supposed to be selling you a product. If I was to go on there with no former information I have to be honest, I would be a little put off. When you buy online you want to feel secure and between this being a totally foreign beauty box concept and the pretty terrible use of the English language it just leaves an uneasy feeling. That being said they’re new in the UK, I’m sure these creases will iron out over time but it really begs the question, could they not get a native to proof read everything before it went live? (here’s an example)

I have no idea how successful Betrousse is in the UK right now but I have a feeling that it’s not just me that would read these articles on their ‘news’ page and think.. erm.. something’s not right. It’s such a shame as the concept is actually really fantastic and now I have all of the negatives out of the way let me tell you how it works…

You can look over the available boxes online, I believe there are currently 3 but am not sure whether they will rotate out to make way for new boxes or if they will compile a huge stock of options as there have only been 3 boxes so far. So you choose from the boxes and you can look inside them and consider which is best for you, which is most suitable, best value, whatever! You can then order that box for the price quoted and you know what you’re going to receive.. it just seems too simple! It’s still the same idea, try new things you never would at full price but this way you’re making a more informed decision, you’ll never be disappointed and all of the products are full size so unlike the pokey little glossybox sachets if you like something you can give it a really good try. The best thing of all is there’s NO SUBSCRIPTION! That’s what I really couldn’t get my head around.. I looked everywhere online and eventually had to email Betrousse asking (how ridiculous) as I just didn’t understand!

The prices change all the time depending on the contents, mine for example was £17 but the value was £72!! The most recent box is £19 but the value is a whopping £131, it contains a £60 night cream and a £41 cellulite serum and I have to tell you.. I’m going to have to have one. You still get products to make up the numbers of course, in my box it was a bar of soap, in the recent one it’s a hand sanitizer but are you really going to argue when you know what you’re buying and you’re getting such an amazing deal on everything else?

You can see everything I got listed here, the theme was organic and natural which I’m not overly bothered about but some people are super keen on, I know. Regardless I was really impressed with the selection of products and most importantly having looked over the site and all the options right most brands are totally unfamiliar to me so I’d be trying something totally new that otherwise I never would have even considered.

Overall, yes I’m disappointed by their website but I’m holding out hope that that will sort itself out over time. Once I realised what a fantastic deal this was I really wanted to get this up and let you guys know about it. It’s terrible that I have to add this disclaimer but given how I’m going to be singing Betrousse’s praises to anyone that will listen now I feel I should say they have no financially compensated me in anyway to advertise their brand, they merely supplied me with this box to review. I really wasn’t sure about them to begin with but if I’m honest I think I’d have been less suspicious had they been a UK brand, I know that’s terrible but I think it’s just the glaring grammatical errors. In spite of that I implore you all to go and check out their site and see if anything appeals ’cause it’s a whole new approach to the beauty box craze!

The box is available right now for just £17 here

I’ve been umming and ahhing about subscribing to a beauty box like shesaid or glossybox for a while now but its always put me off that some months could be a total waste of like £12 and now they’ve come up with a perfect solution! This is actually the best idea I’ve seen in a long time; the must haves box had 2 things I was going to buy anyway (papaya ointment and some kind of new moisturiser) and £131 worth of goodies for £19 was just too fab to pass up! Plus I don’t know if it’s been mentioned anywhere but I got £3 off the price of the box as it was a first time order so it’s even better value for money; it’s like being given £115 for free! Thanks for spreading the word cos I’d never have known about these otherwise!
