A Revolution Renaissance

MAKEUP REVOLUTION RENAISSANCEI actually had a different Makeup Revolution launch to write up today but when these arrived on my doorstep I had to make way. I feel like I've spent the last three days swatching lipsticks (more posts to come!) but having just spotted these online this morning I couldn't wait to get in to them.MAKEUP REVOLUTION RENAISSANCEThe formula is pretty consistent from colour to colour, creamy and opaque (although I don't have every one here) and the only shade I feel would really benefit from a good lip liner base is Exempt - but very deep colours do tend to be on the streaky side no matter where they're from. Classic is a beautiful poppy red, Lifelong fits in to my  mid-berry staple category but Greatest is, well.. the greatest. As soon as I saw it I suspected it might be a dupe for my all time favourite nude and I can't believe what a close match it was. I couldn't have asked for a more similar colour if I'd commissioned it myself!MAC FAUX DUPE MAC FAUX DUPEMAC FAUX DUPEFaux is by far my most worn nude shade (and possibly lip colour in general) so this is a very exciting discovery for me but I will do a little experimenting with liners etc before giving the final verdict as to whether it really lives up to the original. Greatest has a much creamier texture and glossier finish, Faux is a satin and that's part of its appeal for me but we'll see.. if you're into a creamier lipstick it may be the better choice for you!MAKEUP REVOLUTION RENAISSANCEThe packaging it very retro, I would say it's a direct Charlotte Tilbury copy but Lauder did it well before She did.. it's not a new idea, just a trendy one right now. I didn't particularly love the packaging when CT did it so it's not a selling point for me BUT it's a huge step up in packaging for the brand who usually rely on plastic. The metal tubes gives a much more expensive feel and it's just another move away from feeling like a budget brand. There are 20 shades in the collection and they're currently only available online at Superdrug (early release) at £4 a tube
