A Week In Food

Ok.. so last week I informed you all (whether you liked it or not) I had decided to finally lose that last bit of baby weight and since then I’ve bombarded you with many posts on the subject. I’m getting so in to healthy cooking now and trying things I’d never have before.. I’m like a petulant child usually.. ”that looks yucky, I don’t like it!”. Like I said.. I want to kick start and lose the bulk but ultimately change my lifestyle and be healthier so I haven’t taken on anything too drastic. The exercise I’m doing is minimal but targeted to my problem area (my midsection) and I’m out walking with Milo a lot more again. Overall I’m feeling better and for the most part even though I’m really cutting back calories right now I’m not too hungry. I’ve not deprived myself of anything and you will see from my diary entries below Sunday is missing. This wasn’t an intentional gap I just got very very drunk on the Saturday night (my brothers 21st Birthday) and had the worst hangover I’ve had in years the following day. Side bar on that.. I decided to stick to Gin and Slimline tonic which you’ll also notice I didn’t enter in but in all honesty I didn’t keep up. The irony is Gin is the enemy for me.. of all the drinks in all the world it gets me drunkest and I suffer the most for it. So in trying to keep my calories down I ended up losing an entire day and eating *gasp* A McDonalds Breakfast!!

Other than that the week went pretty well…

Wednesday 27th June

Thursday 28th June

Friday 29th June

Saturday 30th June

Monday 2nd July

Tuesday 3rd July

My calorie goal per day is 1200 but I try to keep it to 1000 where possible while I’m in my ‘kickstart’ phase. Yesterday was my best day yet. My dinner was literally a plate of vegetables.. my Mother would drop dead is she read this haha! I even poached a fish for the first time!! Admittedly come 8.00 I was peckish and succumbed to a few crackers and a chocolate biscuit but coming in at under 800 cals I am pretty pleased with myself. I don’t intent to do that for long, don’t worry! I’m a very hungry girl and I just couldn’t keep it up but when you see results it’s a great motivator. I stepped on the scales this morning and was more than happy!

132 lbs!

I’m rounding up but I’ve lost around 4lbs in a week. From experience the first week is the big loser so I’m not holding out any hope for that kind of result in 7 days time but as this week progressed I replaced more carbs with healthy fruits and veggies and am trying to really balance my diet rather than eat the same old stuff, just less of it! Anywho.. that’s enough from me on that.. I’m off to the shops to replenish stocks – I seriously spent nearly £30 3 days ago and I’ve already run out of food.. this is so freakin expensive! I’d really like to try the TIU protein pancakes this week but we’ll see.. the ingredients aren’t super accessible.

What website did you use for tracking your food?

Well done and keep up the good work! I’m good at eating loads of veggies but I’m also very good and eating lots of chocolate in between but I am determined to change this!

ooh dangerous lol.. for me it was portion control.. it made me realise I was eating twice as much as I should be and eating half as much leaves me comfortably full!

This is so unhealthy. Technically it is depriving yourself because your body needs more than that to function at it’s best. I’m the same height as you (probably a little smaller) and am generally around 7 stone – I eat heaps more than this, and I have had three babies. Why do this to yourself?

I’m not depriving my body, that’s ridiculous! I’m just eating vegetables rather than takeaways. I still get plenty of protein and carbs just not as much sugar and fat as I was eating. The fact that you’re trying to make out that someone of my height should be 7 stone is a much less healthy message.. if that’s true your bmi would suggest you’re underweight..
It KILLS me that rather than support each other with positive messages or genuine concern women love to pull each other down.. telling me you have had three babies and eat heaps more than I do yet weigh 2 stone less is such a bitchy thing to say but hey.. that’s girls!

What I am saying is you need to intake more CALORIES of course you need carbs and protein. Your body goes into starvation mode, and you lose even more calories to exercise etc. My point was that I eat enough calories and weigh less than you was not to make you feel bad – more to make you understand that eating that many calories is okay. I am slightly underweight, but I maintain this weight and my doctor has said that I am perfectly healthy – I have a small build.

Good for you! I just would have thought that someone with personal experience of an eating disorder would be more tactful

Hi 🙂 I should probably say to start that ibdont think your food diary is unhealthy as such the food is great, but you need more of it.
Having just dropped from around a size 18-20 & 17.5 stone to a very happy size 14 & just over 14 stone (i’m 5 ft 10). I know losing weight is difficult and like you said your aim is 1200 cal you NEED meet this every day or you’ll do yourself more damage than good. Preferably 1500 cal if your doing a fair bit of exercise.

Hope I dont sound patronising at all but I worry when people dont meet their energy needs. You’ll feel lethargic otherwise. 🙂

Hope it goes well though! Youblook amazing anyway so.dont worry about it too much! 🙂

not patronising at all but because I don’t have MUCH to lose it’s stubborn and if I eat 1200 cals a day it will take me FOREVER to lose that last stone.. I could never stick to a real diet, I have to be able to eat what I like but right now I’m looking for healthier versions of foods I like.. filling up on veg rather than pasta and far from lethargic I have more energy than ever! I’m actually really pleased with how many greens I’m getting in to my diet and that’s one thing I can hopefully hold on to when I relax the calorie counting. Bare in mind I’ve dieted twice in my entire life (both this year) and last time I did this for a month and lost half a stone.. I imagine I’ll do the same this time and come back to it. I don’t tend to put on weight easily so once it’s gone it’s gone. I’m not your average dieter.. it’s just what’s left of my baby bulge.
I could never do like juice fast or that lighter life stuff.. I’d pass out by midday lol

      • 5 July, 2012 / 9:29 pm

Aw ok! Well good luck with it! Just dont go too extreme lol!

Dont you get really hungry in the evenings?, I’d be starving by 8pm if I had that little for my dinner. Glad you are happy, but I love my food and life is just to short!

haha depends what I’ve eaten but I can’t just go hungry.. I’d have to go to bed lol. Evenings are generally where my snacks come in. Totally avoiding carbs doesn’t work for me ’cause I crash and end up eating cheese and crackers at half 9 lol. I’m trying to find the balance. Yesterday for example I made a pizza on a wrap and it was much more filling than just the toppings with salad which I would have had.

Wow Khila, i love the look of your diet- really fresh and healthy. I think (contrary to other comments) your doing a really amazing job of keeping your diet balanced and staying sensible. Some people, I think, CAN certainly overdo their diets, but yours is looking great.. fancy cooking for me everyday?! lol xxx

It is because of this that I am trying to say you need to eat more! It’s frightening to think how sick you could get if you are not careful
