Anchors Aweigh

IMG_2098Essie is one of my favourite nail polish brands, I have a shamefully large collection but I just love the dinky little bottles and beautiful array of candy colours.. they can be a little pricey though. £7.99 a bottle is a scary concept when you count up a sizable collection. Boots 3 for 2 offers do help but if you can find a duo like this that you’re into it’s another way to make them marginally more affordable as you get 2 for £12.99.. like I said, a SMALL saving.

IMG_2094If (like me) you are drawn to the names of polishes just as much as to their colours then you’ll also probably appreciate their duos for their cute combo titles – Anchors Aweigh in this case. A nautical pairing which I personally love, I actually already had the green from I believe last summer when it was originally released. Much as I like each colour I don’t love the formulas of these shimmers.. In the bottle you can see a subtle glitter running through each of them but that shimmer doesn’t translate on the nails but DOES make it a serious pain in the ass to remove.. all of the hassle with none of the special finish to make up for it.

If you don’t mind that of course they’re beautiful colours all the same and on the whole Essie is a brand I would recommend. The colours are more Summer appropriate but I don’t really put them in a box like that, I like brights and pastels year round but you can expect to see some beautiful Autumn/Winter picks very soon.

Love the green shade! It is a shame the sparkle doesn’t come out on the nails though, that would have sold me!

I usually buy my Essie nail polishes from Fragrance Direct. They tend to be the older ranges but at just £2.25 a pop (full size 13.5ml) I can live with that!

    I love Essie but you’re right – £7.99 a pop does add up :S

Essie colours are always so gorgeous but I actually have never bought one simply for the price tag. I’m more of a Barry M or Models Own girl but their deep reds are perfect for winter so I may splash out.
