Back To School Resolutions

IMG_1264-1024x682

I don’t think I’ve mentioned before my intense love for the month of September.. what’s that? Oh I have? What? I talk about it all the time? Well I’m sure you’re happy to hear it again.

I am a huge fan of back to school season (not least of all because my eldest isn’t laying around the house asking 50x a day when her next meal will be) and although I haven’t been going back to school myself for some years I still see it as a fresh start. I’d say I’m more of an academic year person, I should really make my resolutions now because I feel like this is the point in the year where you really assess what you’ve done so far and strive to make changes.

Personally I need to get more organised, I allowed myself to be a bit more casual with blogging and YouTube over the summer to see whether it made me more creative etc.. I definitely prefer to post when I want to post rather than to a schedule but once it becomes a money maker you do have to have some kind of framework or it would be easy to just drift away from it. I have days when I’m super motivated and weeks when I just want to lie on the sofa and do nothing. I often wonder if I didn’t have my 2 year old whether my content would be better or worse.. on the one hand I’d have more time to dedicate to it but on the other I would likely go back to work full time or sleep all day. – so I guess the kids serve a purpose 😉

Another reason I need to up my planning is my diet.. I was doing so well on Slimming World (I do it alone, I don’t attend classes) but over the holidays I got lazy, stopped cooking and planning my meals and fast food/ready meals/frozen pizzas soon creep back in. If I don’t plan or god forbid leave my husband to do the weekly shop I have no chance of sticking to it so I need to set aside that time again.. I have it I am just wasting it somewhere else.

Spending – I always feel like this time of year can get uber spendy.. Christmas is coming and I will often get so caught up in the new seasonal beauty launches etc that I leave my shopping until the last minute – I say last minute but really I’m all wrapped by the time my tree goes up. This year I’m going to start EARLY.. picking up stocking fillers for the kids NOW rather than when they’re overinflated in November/December and getting a budget together for the rest of the family. If you saw my New Love post the other day you will know I’m saving for a rather special gift for myself so I’m hoping that will help to reign in my expensive, accidental trips to Boots and Primark. I’ve actually done pretty well with that of late so fingers crossed I can stay away. Bizarrely I’ve come to a point recently where I seriously feel like I have ENOUGH MAKEUP – I know.. I didn’t know how to react either. I am lucky enough to receive samples here and there of products to review for my blog so at least until someone MAJOR drops I don’t see any good reason to be buying anything new. – famous last words

Fashion – that’s one of the best things that changes this season, I love the warmer clothes, the layers, the boots and scarves, ahh!! LOVE! I plan to edit my wardrobe this weekend (I may share that in a video/post, let me know if you’d be interested) and rediscover some old favourites rather than going out and buying things I effectively already have. I seem to remember buying A LOT of jumpers etc in the sales at the start of the year so hopefully I’ll find a chunk of new stuff I haven’t even had chance to wear yet.. best kind of shopping is stuff you forgot you had, am I right?

So.. what are you A/W resolutions? What are you most looking forward to (other than Christmas, that’s a given) in the months ahead? Do you have any special traditions you take part in? I am just about to start a new job so that’s pretty exciting but other than that I will be bombarding you with pictures of falling leaves and me in flannel shirts for the foreseeable.. and hopefully a new handbag in the not too distant future 😉

I can so relate to all of your points! While I’m usually pretty decent at staying organized (check out my latest back to school/organization post!), I’ve definitely started slacking when it comes to what I’m eating and how active I stay. I’m also SUPER excited to start wearing Fall clothing again, eek! 😀 Loved reading this post!

I love the change of season to Autumn too – love the fashion, love the makeup.. I seriously need to reign in my spending though! Would love to see a video or post on “shopping” your wardrobe and how to create new looks with things you already have

I’m also a lot motivated by the academic year – I believe it’s a lot easier to make the changes in the new school year than half way through. I’m definitely looking forward to the autumn/winter clothing too – there’s nothing better than an oversized ugly jumper and big chunky boots. Good luck with your goals!

This is me, my resolutions are noted down in my filofax in September (mostly do better in uni, but still). I love Christmas shopping but during the month of December I never have time to do any shopping because I have my hands full with school, at that time even more than usual.

I feel you with the fashion spending issues girl, I seem to convince myself every autumn that new boots, new jumpers, new everything is ESSENTIAL in the colder months, ha. I get a bit too casual with the phrase “just a little treat for myself, y’know it’s Christmas.”
My main resolution is actually to see declutter my home, especially my wardrobe. So, if you have any tips and tricks, a video or post would be very much appreciated.

I love this post! I’m starting A Levels and going to a new school, so I’m going to try and get more organised as well, to stay on top of everything. I’m also going to push myself to make new friends while still making time for my other friends. It’s going to be a challenging time!!

Aww I’m so glad I’m not the only one who see’s September as being a fresh start (I even made a post about it)!

My September fresh starts are to save money, walk daily (exercise daily anyway!), read more, write more and eat better. 🙂

My resolution is to wear some of those cute heeled boots I bought last year and never wore. Now that it only takes me 5 mins to walk to college I have no excuses.
