*Face Mask Friday* Birds Nest White Perfect Facial Mask

When my Dad went to China recently with work he brought me back a bunch of beauty products and about a hundred of these masks, they were in a big pack and I’m not sure he knew what he was buying but seriously.. there were loads. So of course this was the first thing I decided to try and since then I’ve had 2 other guinea pigs, my friend Caz (see her blog here) and my husband – always up for some skincare! The first thing I noticed about the mask was how wet it was, I’ve used sheet masks before but they’ve never been so drenched in whatever it is this is drenched in (I’m told it’s bird saliva.. hmm.. gross) it was also pretty difficult to maneuver since as with all paper masks it is HUGE for my regular sized face. I mentioned these in a video and showed the picture below and several people informed me that you’re actually supposed to take the blue layer off which would make sense as it felt almost too heavy to stay on my face. Lesson learned.

I managed to keep it on for 20 minutes (I had to lay down or it gaped and slid all over the place) and I do think that my skin looked and felt improved afterwards. It was smoother and when I hauled the Asian skincare my Dad brought back initially one of my readers suggested I save the remaining liquid from the sachet to use as a serum.. good idea! It definitely felt refreshing and I will be using the mask again but it’s not a holy grail product. I’ve had more accessible masks do more so I wont be putting in an order for these on his next trip.

Do you have any recommendations for Asian skincare brands to try?

I swear by Tony Moly’s Appletox honey cream – use it every night and when I run you you can see the difference in my skin. I also love the Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence which is a dupe of the SKII Facial Treatment Essence and is AS good if not better. 🙂

I’ve never tried sheet masks for in the fear that it won’t fit my face properly.
But if there are benefits of it then I think I will have to give them a go!
    Thanks for the review 🙂

I think you have missed some steps on the mask. For asian masks, they are in sheet form, you should smooth the mask first, get rid of all the air inside, ensure the mask is firmly stick onto your skin. From your picture. It seems that there is still a little layer of blue to peel off. The mask should be in white. I normally peel the white part first, then stick the mask onto the face, like what you have did, and then peel off the blue part.

I am sorry, you might not be able to read the words, but you can see the picture of the actual mask at the end of the post for your reference. http://bubeee.blogspot.hk/2013/08/watsons-birds-nest-silk-whitening.html

There are different lines in Asia that is not sold in Europe for many brands, even the same product, e.g. Relvon foundation, they have different formula for the products. You can try some Japanese drugstore brands, e.g. Kate, MJ, Canmake, they normally have good range of makeup.

Skincare wise, you can try some korean or japanese or taiwanese brands, e.g. My Daily Diary masks (very famous), Kose, Naruko etc

hope the information can give you some insight to what to get. But you have to tell your dad to find good source to buy as well because there are a lot of fake products in mainland china.
