Bleach London Home Hair Colours

Before my recent brighter ombre I dabbled with these temporary dyes from Bleach London. I did a first impressions video but i wanted to follow up with my thoughts after the colours have washed away and let you know whether I would use them again.

Given that my hair wasn’t super light I wasn’t expecting all that much colour to take but I was pleasantly surprised at how it looked after I used them. Rather than the directed method (apply to towel dried hair and rinse after 10mins) I applied the colours to my hair dry and left them for an hour before washing and conditioning as usual. I did this on the assumption that the colours would be more vibrant and last longer and given that that’s the only way I’ve tried them I have to assume it worked. I mixed together Washed Out Orange and Rose in a bid to create a peachy colour (the peach is ALWAYS out of stock) and I was happy with what came out however it stuck around for a lot longer than I expected. The colour you see in the pictures above faded after I’d say 3 washes but there were streaks of pink that seemed like they were there for the duration. Even now after bleaching my ends you can still see pink tones here and there so I personally wouldn’t use these again because I’m nervous that they’ve stained my hair. I’ve read a lot of negative reviews about the cooler toned colours too.. the purples, greens and blues all seem to stain your hair blue and there are some bloggers who have said their hair is ruined because of it. People who have had professional colour corrections only to wash their hair and the blue come back with vengeance.. scary stuff. Screen Shot 2013-11-12 at 19.54.33

I’ve always been someone that experiments with my hair, ‘it’s only hair, it grows back’ etc etc but if I’m honest my hair is important to me and I’ve had pretty horrendous cuts in the past due to my wild experiments that have left me pretty down about my appearance for a while. If you’re vain enough to want to play with hair colour then you’re probably vain enough to be pretty gutted if it goes wrong so in my opinion these are risky. If you’re looking to be a vibrant colour and are planning on staying that way then I’d say go for it, the colours are really nourishing and not at all damaging to your hair however if you’re looking for a temporary fun colour, look elsewhere!

I’ve had good and bad experiences with a lot of crazy colours and pinks, reds and blues can be very stubborn. The one colour that looked lovely (in my opinion) but faded fast with no residual staining was Directions Lavender.. that and the pale pink but that was so subtle that it wouldn’t be much of a commitment if it DID stick around.

I wanted to post this because my first impressions were very positive and I do think these colours work well but the fade time is more than a little off and it’s important that you have as much information as possible before you mess up your hair!

Thank you for posting this. I considered playing with these when my hair was bleached – before I comitted a mortal beauty sin by sticking a load of dark brown dyd over it. I’m glad I didn’t now. I did buy a powder pink hair chalk that I never got round to using before I went back to brown – and wonder if this would work a little better as a more temporary fix.

Oh yeah if I was thinking of going dark I’d totally go for a crazy colour first but I’d steer clear of the cool toned colours as like I say the other reviews seem to suggest they stain the hair so if you did then want to lighten up again you may find an unwanted blue hue underneath that brown!

This seems a bit of a bad review. You’ve been negative about the product and told possible customers to look elsewhere if they want temporary hair colour. However you chose not to follow the given instructions. Leaving the dye on for an hour is bound to have different effects! Perhaps if you had followed the given instructions it would have worked. Therefore I don’t think you’re entitled to write such a negative review when you went against what was recommended. Not by five minutes but a whole 50 minutes.

It’s a negative review after a very positive first impression. You have to remember that a review is subjective, it’s my personal opinion of the product having used it and also read a lot of other reviews. I wouldn’t in good conscience suggest anyone use it after seeing what it’s done to other peoples hair. I actually liked it on my own and obviously realise that the time you leave it on and the fact I did not follow the directions will affect the result or I wouldn’t have mentioned it. I gave you that information so that you could come to your own decision. I can’t imagine anyone reads one review and blindly follows that one persons opinion without doing a little more research. I clearly stated that the reasons i wouldn’t recommend it were the bad reviews I’d heard rather than the experience I’d had. If you do use this and love it please feel free to leave a link to your own review.. the more opinions the better!

I used a product last year that absolutely WRECKED my hair, 99% of the responses I’ve received have been from people who also had a bad experience but there are the odd couple who absolutely loved it. One product is not going to be the same for everyone but if you are thinking of using one of the Bleach colours (some of which were actually taken off the shelves because of feedback) then look for some other reviews before you decide!

This looks great but it is definitely good to be cautious with any kind of hair dye, even a temporary one, and I’m glad you did a follow up since your first impression was so positive, it’s good for people to know to take a second look. I have basically black hair so none of this stuff works on me sadly!

Do you like the Orange Obmre? I can’t say too much but I was a hair model for L’oreal a few weeks ago and if you do like orange ombre you should watch their releases next year. (I think you can just about see the colour in the photo at the end of my last post, but its a little faded now)

Hi. I absolutely loved this colour on you. Can I ask what your hair colour was before you used the bleach dyes? My hair now is very very light brown/dark blonde and wondering if it would stick. Thanks! Jen x

I loved these dyes at first (i used out of the blue, a dark bluey purple) as I didn’t have to dye my hair as often as other colours but it’s now stained my hair such as many other peoples. Such a disappointment 🙁

Worst experience I have ever had with colouring my hair! I wont recommend this product to anyone! On first use I had an amazing vibrant purple which I wanted. . After one wash certain bits turned bright blue some purple faded. The more I washed it the more blue it Turned. I now have a horrible blue Green colour all over which won’t even fade no matter what I’ve tried! I’ve had crazy colours of hair many many times and never had an experience as bad and humiliating as this

Hi, I really love your hair colour. My hair current is black and brown ombre. Do I have to bleach to lighter before I apply as you did?
