Boots Advent Calender – The Aftermath

It may seem a little late to be reviewing an advent calender but since I wasn’t going to ruin the surprise for myself and open the doors ahead of December then I guess it didn’t matter whether this post went up on the 25th December or 25th April.. still too late for you to buy. I thought it was worth reviewing all the same because Boots will no doubt do this again this Christmas and – *spoiler alert* – I will be first in line to pick that up! Here’s what was in the calender..

The stand outs for me were the Mavala polishes (I’ve never tried those before), the Carmex (same deal) Nails Inc Porchester Square (because Anna from ViviannaDoesMakeup raves about it), The Orly base coat and the Seventeen liquid liner. I’m also really happy to finally try Balmi and I’ve grown to really love the Umberto Giannini Backcomb In A Bottle so I’m very happy to have a travel size of that too. Overall I was really impressed with this calender, the perfume samples didn’t bother me because they were all new to me and even the nail file.. when you look at the full selection of products.. I’m happy. There were some really good days and some less exciting but it was great value for money and I have a whole host of new things to try that I can afford to purchase in full size and that’s what I wanted, that’s why I bought the Boots calender and that’s why I’ll buy it again next Christmas!

What a lovely selection of products and from such well known brands too!
I must invest in a beauty advent next year so much nicer and much more exciting than chocolate ones.

I loved it overall, too… especially the quality for the price! I’ve got to say, I did get a bit fed up of the amount of perfume testers, they felt like a slight cop out! Loved the rest though 🙂

I loved this calendar ! Everyday opening it up was so exciting , I love my balmi I got with it although mine is mint green so I think we got different flavours! If boots repeats this next year I will 100% buy it ! and a few more for friends and family!

I tried to get a boots advent calender but they had sold out 🙁 Topshop also did an advent calender.

If you like receiving products in travel size before you buy full size could try a Glossybox I love getting mine!

Wow I’m going to get my hands on these next xmas – they look amazing!

The advent calander looks great I wish I had managed to get one!

I was really happy with it, too.

Sadly I already have a full sized porchester sq, myself, so I don’t have use for the miniature (but happily I’m sure someone in a future giveaway will be Happy to win it!)

I’d not tried carmex before, either and have only tried one mavala polish before so they were great.

All in all I think it was great and I even liked some of the perfume samples!

I did an advent style blog swap, too, where we swapped a box of 24 wrapped things which we collected from our own sample collections and bought with a budget, and then opened one a day (they were numbered) – It was the Most fun. I loved my Boots advent and will, definitely, consider getting one in the future if they do it again, but it was somewhat overshadowed by my swap as that was just amazing (I was spoiled rotten by my swap partner)

Here’s my summing up post for them, if you’re interested –

Wow this looks like a great advent calendar! Such a variety of products as well! How much was the calendar? I was going to get a beauty one this year, but they all seemed quite pricey, but I guess you do definitely get your money’s worth!

Love Mavala nail polishes, they are fantastic, but I was let down by Balmi, don’t get me wrong the product was good but the packaging is something to be desired (the lid didn’t stay closed and covered my bag and phone in coconut lip balm)
