A while ago I was a big fan of Bourjois foundations.. more recently I’ve been more interested in longer lasting/matte formula’s which work better for my oily skin but whenever I return to the Bourjois side of thing I remember why I loved them so. I was such a fan of the healthy mix foundations, I’m yet to try the newest version but this release was recommended to me earlier in the year and for some reason I never shared my review. Again bear in mind that wear time is not something I’m looking for here, I have trouble getting anything to last on my skin so I never feel like it’s fair to review that aspect but this has average wear time compared to similar formulas I’ve tried.
It actually reminds me a lot of the serum version of the old Healthy Mix in both the coverage and the familiar Bourjois smell so that was a nice blast from the past. It wasn’t too dewy a finish either which was pleasantly surprising as the word ‘light’ suggested to me a glowy radiance I’m not usually a fan of. I’ve been enjoying using this a couple of times a week to give my skin a break from my long wearing foundations which can be a touch drying.. this claims to be a hydrating and I’d agree with that. If you have dry skin I’m not saying you will be able to forgo a moisturiser pre-makeup but it’s definitely less likely to settle in to pores and fine lines than your average base. It’s not something I would recommend if you’re super oily as it has zero oil control but both the coverage and finish are so natural I think everyone will enjoy it at least initially. I’ve also tried mixing this with my Revlon Colorstay with great results.. this becomes a little longer lasting/more matte and that becomes less dry and a little more natural.
Have you tried this? I feel like I haven’t tried enough from Bourjois, do you have anything specific you’d recommend/like me to review? – available online here
