I absolutely love these, SUCH a good idea and actually really great for the money. For those of you who struggle with the concept of a smoky eye Bourjois have put together 8 quads in different colour families which complement each other so beautifully when worn together and offer seriously great pay off and blendable textures. The most common mistake I see when it comes to smoky eyes is that people assume it has to be black/grey.. no. Smoky just refers to the way the shadow is applied and that’s why I love what Bourjois have done with these as I don’t believe I’ve ever seen (at least at the drugstore, anyway) a smoky eye palette that WASN’T black/grey. That colour combo is definitely not the most flattering on me, I usually wear something a little more bronze but regardless there’s something for everyone in even the small selection I have here.
The two standouts for me (ie: the ones I would wear most) have to be the Good Nude (left) and Over Rose (right) which I’ve swatched above. Just enough colours to achieve the look you’re going for without any fuss or the risk of muddying it all up with too much of the same this. Each colour is different enough in tone to offer contrast without losing themselves in one another and there’s even a glitter in each if you’re so inclined. I’m not PURELY because I hate the fall out but they’re unlike your average glittery shadow to the point where I’ve actually tried them out on my eyes, I was so curious. Really beautiful effect but as always fall out followed so not something I’ll be using all the time. The only thing I could compare the glitter effect to would be those chunky holographic glitter polishes – example – I haven’t swatched anything like it before.Of course the three colours without the sparkle work well enough together to justify the £7.99 in my opinion however I couldn’t review these without mentioning how cool they were. – available online here
