Braun Silk-Epil 7 – More Than An Epilator

IMG_1076

I’ve always wanted to try an epilator but the main thing that put me off was the expense. Not the expense as such more the expensive if I didn’t use it.. and I had no idea whether I would until I bought one. Dilemma. Well I was lucky enough to be sent this new Silk-Epil 7 from Braun just before Christmas so I can finally tell you.. epilating hurts like a m****r f****r and I will NOT be doing that again.. BUT there are so many other uses for this beauty gadget!

1. I may not be able to epilate my legs but I CAN epilate my chin! That’s right I have many hairs on my chinny chin chin and at almost 28 I dread to imagine the beard I’ll have when I’m in my old age. It’s realy effective in that area and since I’m used to plucking there I can handle to pain. To be honest I could handle to pain on my legs if it actually made them smooth but if you were considering one for your bikini line.. don’t even go there.. I made an audible yelp from the shower, haha.

2. There is a brush attachment. Think of it like a Clarisonic for your body.. in fact I think they make one of those, don’t they? You can use the brush dry or wet (the whole thing is waterproof by the way) and I have loved using it before I shave my legs for the smoothest finish.

3. There is a shaver attachment. Sorry if we’re verging on TMI territory here but grooming is part of most of our beauty routines and I can’t imagine what you’d use this attachment for other than ‘personal grooming’ – unless of course you let your legs grow forest-like over the winter and you need some help before you go in with the bic.. haha.. just the image lol.

Overall although I’m not planning on using the epliator on my legs anytime soon if I’d bought this I wouldn’t have been too annoyed that I didn’t love that feature because it has so many others that make it worth the money. If like me you aren’t sure but want to try epilating I’d definitely suggest this model over a one trick pony that would just be gathering dust in my drawer now.

ouch seems exspensive at first but probably not too bad when you consider there is three things in there. im so torn about whether to get an epilator!

I had the first Braun epilator that was able to get wet – it definitely hurts like no other, BUT if you keep going through the pain, it does get easier because your hairs get finer! I had got quite into using mine, but then the thing wouldn’t charge anymore. Probably wasn’t as waterproof as it had made out, haha.

I really like the brush attachment of this, I’ve always tried to get into dry brushing and imagine this little gadget would help!

Haha, I’ve tried epilating before and can just about stand the pain on my legs, but I also tried my bikini line (and underarms) and my gosh, I will not be trying that again!!

I love mine, I’ve had it for about five years and I’m beginning to get patches where the hair isn’t growing back. You do have to accept that it’s not as good as a close shave, and I tend to go back to the razor in the summer when my legs are on display more! It’s great for underarms too, well once you get used to the pain!

Don’t give up- it definitely gets easier. Also, make sure you pull your skin really taught. It helps a lot. The first time is painful but after that it’s a lot easier. The first time I did my arm pits I had to give up after a few minutes as the pain was excruciating but on my second attempt it was completely bearable. I do my bikini line too and that’s absolutely fine after a couple of goes. I personally think epilating is the most economic from if hair removal, if as you say, you use it. I used to pay £25 to get waxed and that all adds up. Razors are also expensive over the weeks, months, years and also very ineffective as it grows back the same day- at least for me anyway.

I gave up on shaving years ago as a teenager and have never looked back since. I only ever epilate and I LOVE it. No more stubble for me!

I have a epilator and I can only use it on my underarms. I’m am easily irritated but the epilator is great and it lasts longer! Stings a bit but not as bad as the legs! Ouch!

I epliate my underarms, bikini line and legs… honestly, it is just a case of getting used to it! It does hurt but it gets so much easier the more you do it and the hair grows back finer, softer and lighter. I hated how often I needed to shave so epilating is a godsend for me 🙂 x

Yep it hurts but in time you get used to it. I did and since something more permanent it’s way out of my budget I will stick to epilators. I’m glad to hear that you found some usage to it though and the best thing is that you got it for free, I’m so envious at the moment 🙂

I have a Braun epilator and I desperately wanted to get into the swing of using it (I always, without fail, cut myself with a razor) but it huuurts! Do any of you ladies who swear by it have any tips on getting used to the ouchiness?

I have an ooooooold Braun epilator, but it still works like a charm, including on its battery. It seems that they really do make products that last a lifetime.

    But yeah, epilating hurts.

I love my epilatior – I use it on my legs every three weeks or so and the hair growth has slowed so much I don’t even need to shave them in between! I tried my armpit once… That was an idiotic move. I cried actual tears, and bled actual blood.

I did a post on using mine here http://blotandreapply.com/?cat=77 that may be helpful 🙂 x

Read your post Charlotte, really helpful thanks. I think I just need to bite the bullet (or a leather belt or a towel) and get on with it. Think I will be avoiding the underarms though! I had a similar experience from an over zealous water once. Oh the PAIN!

Got the Silk 7 after my Silk 5780 broke and what an upgrade! You get used to the tingle and my legs look incredible 🙂 hate things breaking but blessing in disguise! Love the blog 🙂 x

Haha, yes. Epilation is not for the faint of heart! BUT, it really only hurts so terribly the first time! The hair grows back finer (not thicker, like shaving) and it’s younger so it’s much easier to pull out, and if you do it semi-monthly you will start to get the hairs in between growth cycles so you will be pulling out much less each time! Don’t give up!

BUT, if you do give up, this is the epilator to have because you’ve got all those other great attachments 🙂 I have one too and I love it!

Indeed, using an epilator will hurt you, but in time you will get used with the pain. Also, in time, you will bear the pain more easily. I also know that waxing is much worse than epilating your body.

Getting through the first time is super tough. I’m glad that it works on your chin hair. I remember when I epilated the first time, I never wanted to do it again. Then after awhile it just feels like a little tug. I wish there was a way to skip past the painful period.

Also I have Braun silk epil.I had some different types before. When I started using this I can easily see the differences. 40 Close-grip tweezers are the most important feature. with this feature we can have better removal of even the shortest hairs. and also it is not expensive. nearly 120 dolars. but I found discount on this site and bought it around 100. http://www.smoothskinlab.com/

So far, Silk Epil 7 still is best choice for an epilator which affordable and powerful in removal unwanted hairs 🙂
    I’m very happy with it.
