Candle – Aromatherapy Associates – Revive

When I first opened this candle the scent was SO strong and I didn’t like it AT ALL. Very soapy and just too much, closed the box and intended it to give it to a friend. Then I tried the corresponding bath oil and loved it so I decided to give it a go. This may well be the most expensive candle I’ve ever burned in my life so the lighting process had to be documented (below) but it’s also one of the prettiest. The tumbler is just beautiful and if I ever burn it all the way down I will definitely find a use for it. Back to the candle itself.. I never really understood the term ‘burning clean’ but I get it now, my Yankee candles are blackened from the flame where as this ‘burns clean’ – ahhh!! That’s not something that I’m super concerned with but I know for some the whole chemicals and what you’re putting in to your body/the air you breathe is a big issue so I thought it was worth mentioning. I’m more of the ‘well I’ve survived thus far’ school of thought and life’s too short for sulfate free shampoo.  I digress (again) the scent is SO strong, if you don’t like it you wont be able to to just ignore it.. it’s not a candle I would burn for hours.. maybe an hour tops and I have to blow it out. I’m not totally sold on the Revive fragrance in candle form, it’s a little overpowering for me, the grapefruit note is what I mistook for soap and it’s very powerful.

Revive claims to be reviving and uplifting and I see where they’re coming from with the heavily citrused fragrance but it just gives me a bit of a headache.. not my favourite. The packaging is beautiful though and if you know someone who would appreciate it I think it would make a lovely gift

Although I’m not a huge fan of this particular scent I would definitely consider purchasing another variation – the Relax candle sounds right up my ally – because they really do give you a bang for your buck (although that buck is actually 27 bucks) but it’s not something I’d be buying on a regular basis. I appreciate the brand and absolutely love their bath oils but I don’t feel like the candles do as much for me aromatherapy wise so whereas I can justify the cost of the oil because it may really help me sleep the candle would be pure indulgence!

You can buy the Revive candle online here for £34.00 – if you know of a cheaper retailer/offer leave a link in the comments

Sounds lovely 🙂 I think I have quite a dulled sense of smell so strong candles are great for me. One for the Christmas list!

The candle looks very pretty but I’m not sure I would like the strong smell either

I really love candles with strong scent so this would probably be a great one.

I’d love to try this candle, but it’s just so expensive! I think I’ll stick to Yankee candles :)xo
