Any excuse to take photos in the Christmas Tree, eh? Now I’ve made no secret of the fact that I though that the Revlon Lip Butters were overhyped prior to their launch in the UK and that opinion has met lots of criticism as well as like minded folk that were in agreement.. it seems that Lip Butters have divided the nation. After the last time I mentioned them however lots of people suggested that the reason for this divide was not infact the disappointing texture but the shade selection.. interesting! There are lots of pinks and nudes.. a few brights but nothing I’ve worn made me want to wear it again.. And I bought 6 in one go so I have a reasonable colour range.
When I was contacted to try these two ‘more festive’ lip butters I was skeptical. I don’t generally accept samples of products I think I wont like but given that these are two I do not own and the conversations I’d had with many of you following that last video I decided to give them another chance and for those of you that previously shared my negative opinion I would suggest you do the same.
I still can’t say I’m totally sold on the texture given the name ‘butter’ but someone suggest I look at them as lipsticks for people that don’t like lipstick and with that in mind I actually quite like them. I’ve had super chapped lips recently so Berry Smoothie just made them look a little sore to me but I can see the appeal of a sheer, glossy, berry tone for those of you that like more of a wash of colour. Raspberry Pie however is absolutely amazing! It’s similar to Lollipop in it’s opacity and brightness however Lollipop just never looked right on me, a little too blue toed perhaps whereas this is just right. A gorgeous pinky red that is perfect for Christmas-time! It took me a long time to realise I suit a bold pink lip over a red and this is ideal for me. I can even say that I don’t mind the stickiness as much which goes to show it’s more about the colour than anything else. Once you find that shade that sells you you’re hooked.. unfortunately it’s just taken me a long time to find it! Final word – if you haven’t bought one of these yet (wow, amazing restraint!) do your research and look at a lot of swatches first because they are all totally different, on the same note if you’ve tried one and hate it don’t write off the whole range like I did!
