I have never been happier with how my NOTD pictures turned out which is totally bizarre as these were taken at about 7pm.. not prime daylight hours but whaddayaknow? Awesome! Anywho.. That’s not what this post is about. I haven’t tried anything from the Look Beauty range previously because if I’m absolutely honest with you I think it’s a little pricey for a new brand at the drugstore. Not that I appreciate established brands hiking up their prices but.. you know what I mean! This was some time ago.. when they first launched and I haven’t looked at their stand since but it turns out they have a lot more stuff now and although I do still think they’re a little overpriced in some areas (think Revlon price point – which I also think is verging on department store) some things are pretty reasonable! Nail Polish for example (this is relevant) is £5 which is on a par with Models Own, one of my favourites! Well.. that was an unexpected rant but what I really want to talk to you about is this very patriotic shade that’s been doing the beauty blogs rounds of late. I’m sure you’ll have seen it somewhere already but I thought I’d show you how I ‘style’ it.
It’s a clear varnish jam packed with teeny tiny glitter in red white and blue. It’s a very very nice opacity for a glitter and I think 2 or 3 coats of this and you’ll get what’s in the bottle but given that 1. glitter polish is an absolute bitch to remove (see how I do it here) and 2. I wanted to do something a little different I decided to layer it over a base shade. I would have ideally liked white but given how difficult it is to find a great white formula I don’t actually own one that’s any good so I chose the next best thing.. Skull & Gloss Bones from OPI (NOTD to come). I think this off white/grey shade works really nicely with the Cool Britannia glitter and brings out the ‘white’ (silver) nicely given that it’s a cooler tone. I love glitter polish but generally stick to accent nails and I’d imagine when worn with blue or red it would look different still, so versatile! I know that the Olympics is very nearly at an end but this is definitely going in my Christmas collection! Very festive!
