Current Eye Care

As I’m getting older I’m definitely thinking more about wrinkles and lines on my face and how to avoid them. I am often asked about skin care and I talk about about cleansers and moisturisers but little about eye care. I’ve not stayed loyal to one treatment yet as I haven’t found one that’s wowed me so am always looking for the next bigger and better product. These are the two I have on the go right now. Both are formulated for eyes and lips but they are very different. I received them in separate beauty boxes from Betrousse (read more about them here) which is a french company that exclusively offers french brands. This is great as they’re almost always totally new to me but it also means I can’t read the packaging or directions. Another downside is how difficult it is to find a stockist but I’ve done my best with links for you.

Forest People – Luminous Serum – £31.00

100% organic this serum claims to even out skin tone, prevent lines, improve dark circles as well as firm and tone. I’m not sure about that but being oil based it feels nourishing and is pleasant to apply. I don’t know if it improved any tone but since I’ve started to see hyper pigmentation around my eyes I will be using this more in an attempt to lighten that. It’s not something I’m going to rush to repurchase right now but you only need a small amount and it can double up as a facial oil so it wont go unused. You can purchase Forest People here, thought I’m struggling to find a link to this specific item the brand seems to specialise in natural oil based products.

Sen Tara – Intense Balm – £39.00

This is much more me, it’s a balm rather than a thick cream or oil and it’s the perfect eye treatment for underneath makeup for that reason. I have tried to split them in to day and night as the Forest People really is only suitable to wear overnight but I keep coming back to this. There’s a sweet smell about it, it feels nice to apply and it generally is more a formula I would chose if I was to purchase an eye treatment. It claims to rehydrate and plump your skin which I’m tempted to agree with and again as this is targeted at lips as well a balm is just more ‘lip friendly’ in my opinion. Unfortunately the Sen Tara website is all in French and I don’t see a UK version but here it is for those that can navigate.

Neither of these products have really lived up to their RRP in my opinion so I’ll be looking to try something new when I’m all out, if you have any recommendations let me know! I’m so so tempted by the Estee Lauder Advanced Night repair but the price tag definitely puts me off and I’m not sure I need to shell out that much at 26. I think my next will be the L’Oreal Youth Code but like I said.. any suggestions…

My eyes are awful even though I religiously use every potion I can find, I’m pretty sure the secret to no dark circles and bags is just lots of sleep – which I don’t seem to do :o(

I think I’m going to try the fade out range which is supposed to be very effective but doesn’t get a lot of coverage on blogs etc

I think a lot of it is in our heads but if in 10 years I have bags and wrinkles at least I’ll know I did all I could haha

I’m 20 and I started using the No7 Protect and Perfect cream (the one in the pot, they do an ‘intense’ version in a tube which I haven’t tried) as my eye area felt a bit dry and I had really bad dark circles under my eyes. Both these problems have completely gone (so happy about the lack of bags!) and I’m continuing to use it to hopefully reduce my chance of wrinkles around my eyes! I am so glad I picked it up as it was only on a whim with one of those £5 no7 vouchers.
