DIY ‘Dressing Room’

IMG_3751This is one of the most fun posts I’ve written in a while. I recently redecorated the small box room in our house that house my shoes and bags and I decided to deck it out as a bit of a ‘dressing room’. I’m lucky that we don’t really have use for it and it was a real ‘spare’ room so I could take it for my own.. I’ve even managed to muscle out the ironing board.. a purely girlie space now.. what? Ironing’s mans work! Some of these bits and pieces were already in place prior to the paint job but since everything moved out to start fresh I thought you may be interested in a bit of a ‘step by step’ as I put it back together. Hopefully it will inspire some of you looking to do something similar. The bookcase is the Billy from Ikea and the clothes rack is the Mulig (also Ikea) – the mirror was from The Range and an absolute bargain at <£40 but I can’t find a link online.. if you’re in the market for a large mirror I’d definitely recommend the store if you have one in your area.. cheapest by far and LOTS of options! The framed shopping bags was something I’d seen a million times on Pinterest and is literally just a bag in a frame.. no tutorial required, you can do it.. frames are of course from Ikea. If you don’t fancy putting nails in your walls another great way to display necklaces is to put pins in a corkboard and hang THAT.. same effect with a lot less damage.. I rent but my landlord is a pussycat 😉 – OH.. the Rug? Ikea! Duh!

It doesn’t matter how big or small it is, it’s nice to have that sanctuary in which you keep all your special bits and pieces.. it’s not a room I spend a huge amount of time in but whenever I do it makes me super(ficially) happy to be there!

You can see a little ‘tour’ video of the room below – or click here

PS

Sorry for the lack of posts over the past few days, I suffered some technical difficulties earlier in the week and am still catching up 🙁 Expect to be inundated in November!

This is a great idea! I also have a small room in my house, which I use as a dressing room. I have my dressing table and wardrobe in there, plus shelves for my shoes, and also a box bed which is really useful for friends that stay over!

It looks nice. I think the white walls and furniture make it look fresh. You could really go to town with that room and make it a walk in wardrobe if you rearranged it a little. I’d love a space like that, my bedrooms tiny. Only space for one bedside table a queen bed. Lucky theres an in-built wardrobe but its not as big as my previous one.
