ELF – Beauty On The Go

I haven’t ordered anything from ELF in over a year.. the shipping time always put me off but last week after watching a video review of this beauty I couldn’t resist. The deal at the time meant I also got a little ‘lucky bag’ of free products too which I’ll sow you in another post. These are just my first impressions of the kit, you can expect full swatches and a review later on I was just so impressed I had to share it with you guys. In the past I’ve had some really hit and miss quality from ELF and having spoken to others it seems their products are really inconsistent. I have bought blushers and eyeshadows with zero pigementation that others have claimed are the brightest powders they own. It’s not a great advert and a big part of the reason I stopped buying from them but having read only good things about the beauty on the go palette I decided to give them another shot and I’m so pleased I did. Some of the shadows still need a primer to get the best from them but that can be said for even high end brands occasionally and the blush powders are all great. The cherry on top is the little compact they slot into for travel.

You get 6 mini palettes with 10 shadows, 2 lip colours and a blush/bronzer. The packaging of these little insert-like palettes isn’t great but it also comes with a casing to slot them in to (I bought an extra not knowing it was supplied) and once they’re housed in the compact they actually feel really substantial. Did I mention the kit is only £10?? I’m just so impressed with this set and it’s something I would never have even considered had it not been for wowetflutter’s review on YouTube. It looks like something you’d get from your Grandma at Christmas.. something you’d buy in Argos, are you with me? Cheap and tacky and not something that screams ‘buy me’ at all. That being said when you strip away the glittery cardboard packaging the product is very good and the palette is sleek and portable. You can also buy compacts to fit 3 inserts which is next on my list as I’d ideally like to house them all when not in use but it would be a great addition to anyone’s on the go/travel makeup bag!

You can purchase the large set for £10 here

The single compact for £3.75 here

& The trio compact for £6 here

*I’d go with the trio personally, it’s better value for money,  you’re likely to want more that one blush/bronzer option and it also has see through panels in the lid to identify the contents!

Wow that looks amazing might have to check that out. I know what you mean some of the products from elf are rubbish and others are really good. I really love elf lipsticks from the £1.50 range. Such a good bargain and quite good quality.

I’ve never tried their 1.50 lipsticks but there have been some great finds from there… as well as some not so great ones lol

Oooh, might have to place an order – I’ve always found them hit and miss too, and have seen these and thought ‘cheap’ too!! Wonder if you can buy ‘urban decay’ stickers for the cases to class them up a bit LOL!!

I bought the $5 set from Target- it has two palettes and comes with one case. I love the colors, I always use a primer and the shadows last without smudging or fading. The only thing I don’t like is storing the palettes that aren’t in the casing- I have them in a drawer but feel like they are getting “dirty” when not in a case.

I still haven’t got much use out of them as I put them away and kind of forgot about them til your comment haha.. so thanks for reminding me. They’re really quite nice and for the money they can’t be beaten but like you I wish I had more individual palettes to store them in!

I have this and use it most days, I love the eyeshadows (with primer) and am in love with the blushers but disappointed with the glosses, they barely even offer a tint of colour and are super greasy, like something from a kids set, however for the price I am happy with the set and wish the extra pallet’s could be cheaper. :))
