As a general rule I stay away from mineral eyeshadows because they’re usually loose pigments and that is just way too messy for me to be getting involved with. It seems the new trend for Mineral products is to press them, interesting! We’re seeing in from the big brands like Bare Minerals and now it’s filtering down to the more affordable, even ELF have their own line and I was sent two to review for you. I’m not convinced that the two I was sent are the best examples of this new range, I’ve seen some swatches online of much deeper shades with amazing pigmentation but as I’ve said in the past.. the brand is not always consistent so it could be that the products in the US happen to be slightly nicer than here in the UK but the two I have are pale and they can also be applied wet so it’s tough to say for sure.
Beauty Queen (right) is a shimmery champagne highlight and Miss Popular (left) is a slightly metallic (dare I say satin?) taupe
I definitely see myself getting more use out of Miss Popular, I’m all about my neutrals and it’s a really lovely shade. The formula is also very nice but I did experience a considerable amount of fallout compared to my regular elf shadows, I think I will wear them wet to avoid this in future but I guess pressed or loose you can’t get away from it when you’re working with mineral eye colour.. it’s the main reason I don’t rave about Sleek the way most seem to.
