Essie Mint Candy Apple/Xtras Gold Glitter

This is a cult beauty blogger polish so if you’ve not heard of it before.. where have you been? After buying most of my Essie from discount bins I really resented paying full price for a shade I wanted from Boots and this stayed on my wishlist for a while before Laura (LauraLovesBeautyX) gifted it to me on our last shopping trip. Best. Present. Ever. I have worn it so much and this Xtra’s gold chunky glitter I bought on the same day is the perfect partner to glitz it up for Autumn Winter. In truth I’m not sure which I’m more excited about given the coming season.. the gold goes with EVERYTHING!

I’ll be swatching this against my China Glaze ‘For Audrey’ soon ’cause I have a sneaking suspicion they are very very similar. Mint Candy Apple is definitely more mint blue than mint green and it’s very close to my tiffany boxes so I’m gonna go out on a limb and say if you have this you probably don’t need the China Glaze counterpart and vice versa. This was one of the first new formula/brush Essie’s that I tried and I have to say it really is better than the original salon formula. It’s pretty much a one coat application and the brush is wide enough to cover each nail in one swipe (bar my thumb of course) but not so wide it overlaps. You guys know I’m a huge Essie lover so it’s no surprise I love this but I had no idea how much better the drugstore diffusion line was.. now I’ll be less put off paying full price for a better product!

Blanc is next on my list, I’m hoping it’s as opaque and easy to apply as Fiji, anyone know?

I have blanc and although its quite opaque I hate the formular and brush! It’s the original formular and brush as I bought it in the states, but I don’t get along with essie polishes at all! If you’d like it, I’d happily send it to you? Xx

I went and bought this today after work as a little treat and its such a great combination. I have wanted to experiment a bit with polish colour so thanks for the push! I couldn’t find Xtras Gold Glitter but Barry M have a Nail Paint out at the moment for £2.99 with exactly the same effect.

Fantastic beauty blog, I look forward to many more!

A few days ago I found (and bought!) a similar glitter in Poundland called ‘Chit Chat’. I think there were other metal colours as well so next time I’ll try to bring a few more with me. 😉
