I posted a swatch last week of Essie’s Dive Bar. I bought Trophy wife at the same time and in truth even I thought I was being a little ridiculous as they looked so similar but I assure you once applied.. they are not! Much as I love this colour in theory, on me it just doesn’t work. It’s too blue or too teal.. I don’t know. If I were tanned or of a darker complexion I think I’d love it but somewhere between the shade and the metallic finish it really doesn’t suite me. I used my trusty Rimmel matte top coat to frost the finish as you can see here and it was a little better but really.. I don’t think I’ll be reaching for this very often. It applies well and ticks all the other Essie boxes I just made a poor call when choosing from the stand. Dive Bar has that extra depth, maybe it’s the green? There’s just something more to it that I like more so if you were to find yourself in a Sophie’s Choice situation.. jus’ sayin’.
It’s so vibrant that I know there’ll be some of you that love it and in the photo’s I quite like it too but on my hands in winter.. just no.
Available from Boots & Superdrug stores nationwide for £7.99

I much prefer Dive Bar! Like you, I’m quite fair skinned so not sure this would suit me very much! Also like the Sand Tropez, I’ll definitely have to buy this very soon! X

yes, dive bar has something more to it that is just so much more flattering on me
This is a great colour – I am a big fan of bluely green tones esp when they look slightly metallic.

it’s very metallic without the matte coat, it was just a bit too retro for me
A little late to the party here, but if you don’t like Trophy Wife all over your nails, you can use it as french tips over Dive Bar or a similar colour in a creme finish polish.
