Every Day Is Valentines Day

If like me you cannot celebrate Valentines Day on February 14th you might agree with me that the date doesn’t really matter. My parents anniversary is on Valentines so a babysitter is out of the question and no fancy meal or cocktails shall be had however that doesn’t stop us from pushing back the celebration to a later date.. and of course when you delay a holiday you can get everything on sale and you have more time to ‘prep’ for the occasion.. and not just the women.

On 12th February, Gillette took to the streets in an effort to understand how women feel about facial hair on their man. The results were conclusive with 93% of women preferring their man clean shaven. These results were supported further by a nationwide survey which revealed that 75% of women like the look of stubble but hate the way it feels when a man kisses them.

I have to admit I don’t think all that much about my husbands grooming, he doesn’t like stubble and so shaves everyday (as I do my legs but that’s a whole other story and yes, I know it’s not normal lol) but I can totally see how so many women could say they like the look of it but not the feel.. I can’t imagine kissing a guy with a beard but I guess it’s just whatever you’re used to. A moustache would just remind me too much of my Dad I think, haha.

When it comes to MY prep I’m looking at scrubbing, moisturising, mani/pedicuring and making sure every scrap of makeup is as long lasting as possible. I’ve had hit and miss results with stains including the Max Factor pen however these types of stains definitely lend themselves better to a kissing holiday than those of the stickier variety. For the real date I chose a very rebellious black for my nails (City Blackout from NYC) however for our date night I love this limited edition Nails Inc shade of hot pink, Sloane Street. The box (which I rather hilariously – in hindsight – threw away) was designed by emerging British designer Teatum Jones for their mini #LFW collection.. of course the special thing to keep would be the box.. mmm.

Whenever you celebrate this day of love, enjoy yourselves and don’t forget that you can express your feelings year round.. not just on the one day 😉

I much prefer my boyfriend with stubble to clean shaven! I’m surprised that 93% of women disagree, that’s huge!

I’m surprised too at the high amount of women that like men who are clean shaven. A lot of clean shaven men, to me, look like a teenager! I love a little bit of stubble.

93% is a lot! when I compare that to my dating history maybe only one was ever totally clean shaven! the rest have all had some kind of facial hair. I do tell pawl when his is getting unruly because a mustache that tickles is not so fun. But he has to have facial hair. maybe I am just a beard loving freak according to the statistics!

I love my beardy hubby. We are celebrating tonight by going to a burlesque show. I actually managed to get a babysitter! He bought me a vintage dress for Valentine’s which is perfect for tonight. Xxx
