Garnier Pure Self Heating Sauna Mask, well that’s a mouthful! We’re going to be speed reviewing this week because it’s 8pm, my bath is ready and my cup of tea is getting cold. You guessed it.. I forgot again! This is the problem with running a weekly feature on a set day.. I find it almost impossible to stick to but thus far I’ve only been late with it once so fingers crossed it will teach me some discipline! This weeks mask is actually an old friend of mine I always return to when I want a really deep clean and after last weeks surprise blackhead had finally been evicted I felt my skin needed somewhat overhauling. I love self-heating masks when they work but they rarely do and unfortunately this is not much of an exception. Upon first application it’s a bit warm but that fades as soon as you’ve stopped rubbing it around your face and I’d imagine sooner if you were being fancy and using a brush – oo-er!
Like most sauna-type treatments it stays wet no matter how long it’s left to ‘dry’ which as we’ve discussed at length in these weekly posts is not my favourite formula however to get a really good deep down cleanse I like to wear the mask and then steam my face or better still relax in bath letting it really penetrate my pores – mm.. not a great visual. I use masks all the time and I’d say the majority are a bit of a placebo.. maybe they do something but very few are something really special.. this is one of the few. After 20 mins I rinse this off my face (at which point you get that heat again.. nice) and my skin feels super clean and smooth. I generally go on to a big cleanse with my Clarisonic to give it that extra oomph but really.. if you’re feeling a bit clogged up (skin-wise you understand) I would absolutely recommend you give this a go. It’s only available in sachets as far as I know but one sachet actually perforates in to two and costs just £1.29 here from Superdrug. I’ve also picked these up for less that £1 in Asda on occasion but either way they’re a bargain considering you get two applications. Definitely one to try!
What’s your go to mask when you want to get a real deep cleanse?

I love the Freeman Dead Sea Minerals mask. Like you, I don’t know if it actually does anything, but it makes my skin feel really smooth and it does look better, even if only for a day. Lol

hey any effect is better than no effect lol thanks for the suggestion x
Phew..thought it was me doing something wrong with these masks- they do go cold if you don’t keep rubbing them in!!!…love self heating masks, these were a disappointment for me heat-wise, but on the positive i too felt like they ‘did something’ to my skin!

I love the body shop warming mineral mask, like you have said the heat disappears when you stop rubbing it in but I like it. Don’t know if you have tried it ..

it’s a total bargain! Let me know if you try it x
Hi Khila – I’m loving the look of your blog these days – amazing! I’ve not used this mask as I don’t use garnier or l’oreal products, but I do love self heating masks – I like the body shop one and also the sanctuary one, which is available in boots but I also snagged it on buyapowa a few months ago. These post make me feel so guilty though – I definitely feel the benefit of face masks, but I struggle to apply one on an even weekly basis, so I’m in admiration of you applying them 2-3 times a week! No wonder your skin looks so blimmin good…

thank you!! it took me about a week to perfect the layout and I’m still not happy lol.. wordpress is tricky!! I love the sanctuary mask.. will be treating myself when I’m back at work and that will be a FMF feature for sure!! bear in mind that I don’t work right now so I have nothing but time to sit about wearing a face mask.. but I tend to get home and put one on before my bath, Lee is so lucky to have me haha!! x
I tried this mask (79p in bodycare) and my friend tried it too. We both have different skin but both liked it. Recently i have been using the nspa 5 minute miracle mask from Asda (about 6 quid i think) and that is really good on my skin. I can definately notice a difference in the size of my huge pores! I would like to see what you think of it x
