L’Oreal True Match Concealer / Outdoor Girl Pressed Powder / Color Cosmetics 18 Eyeshadow Palette / Collection2000 Powder Blush in Nude / Constance Carroll Quick Stroke Liquid Liner / Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara / L’Oreal Lipstick in Unending Kiss
I’ve blogged about Cosmetic Fairy before and I know that many of you were quick to order from them but for those of you for whom this is a new discovery.. prepare to lose hours to browsing their products. They sell discontinued (for the most part), discounted cosmetics from lipstick to nail polish and there is ALWAYS a bargain to be had. Last month they got in touch to ask if I’d like to choose £10 worth of products to show you guys how much you can get for your money.. I of course said yes.. hence this post 😉
The makeup look below was created using a selection of these products and the addition of Eyes Lips Face Tone Correcting Powder and NYC Brow Pencil in Taupe . It wasn’t quite a £10 face but you can see the video application here, I was actually massively impressed with everything for the money and the wear time of the look wasn’t bad either.. the liner leaves a little to be desired but it’s uber cheap so y’know.. you can’t have everything!
With my £10 I tried to choose enough for a £10 face of makeup with some colour options too but there was a brow pencil which didn’t arrive and the translucent pressed powder was crazy dark and actually golden with shimmer.. never has a powder been less fit for purpose. Of everything that arrived the most impressive items have to be the lipstick – which was 99p and absolutely awesome.. I’ve worn it almost every day since and will be purchasing more colours – and the mascara which I expected to hate. I’m super picky with mascara so it was a stroke of luck that I actually liked this one. The blush was a safe bet and worked well, the concealer is long wearing, great coverage but a little pale for me and the palette looks good upon first swatching but I haven’t had chance to give it a proper trial yet. It’s so low priced however that you can absolutely expect a follow up post on it. Lastly the liners, as I mentioned I wasn’t super impressed with the wear time but the brown colour I applied in the video looked really nice at least initially. Bizarrely I also ordered a blue and that was just no good at all, obviously an inconsistent product line.. probably why it was discontinued.
As with anything there will be hits and misses but the beauty of older products is that you can research reviews before buying and there should be lots to choose from so if you’re looking for lipstick shades or just an idea of formula you wont be totally in the dark however because the discounts are so great you never really lose all that much even if you pick a dud! – What do you have your eye on?
