When New Look contacted me and asked me to pick an fashion era to style I immediately knew it would have to be the 70s. I know the 80s have been ‘back’ for a while and 90s grunge is the current ‘it’ era but the 70s really do it for me. In fact if I had to choose a time to LIVE in I think that would be it, the TV, the music..I think I would have liked it then. Flares were top of my list when I was looking for outfit ideas and that’s really what I built this look around. This pair are super stretchy and comfortable.. if they were high waisted they’d be my dream pair but that’s just me being picky.
A floppy hat was next on the agenda, there were so many styles/colours to choose from but I settled for a classic dark brown.. I can see myself wearing this with a trench in Autumn.. if I ever feel cool enough to wear one out of the house that is. The oversized off the shoulder shirt was a comfort addition.. I would probably switch this for a white flowy shirt if I was going out or for another season but for summer shoulders are definitely ‘in’..by which I mean they should be out! Lastly a pair of flares would be very lonely without some platform sandals, wouldn’t they? These are chunky but easy to walk in and the tan colour makes them so versatile. A pair of cat eye sunglasses (I’m really hoping this shape will stick around ’cause I love it!) and I’m feeling very much the part. My watch is from Daniel Wellington.. such a huge variety to choose from but this classic brown strap felt ‘of an age’ to me and of course matched my other accessories.
