First and Foremost I think it’s important to mention that of my vast mascara collection I’ve only ever found 3 I like and 2 I love. There has to be a special brush/formula combination for a mascara to do anything at all to my rubbish lashes. The only 2 step version I ever tried was the infamous Bourjois black and white one (I forget the name – bad beauty blogger!) that everyone raved about more than 10 years ago. Since then everyone and his wife has brought out some kind of duo or mascara primer but I’ve not been tempted.. I didn’t like it then and decided I wouldn’t like it now. I wasn’t exactly wrong.
The Fashionista Double Collection 2 step mascara promises high impact lashes. I’ll admit that upon applying the ‘ultra lengthening base coat’ I had high hopes, it really did seem to add a lot of volume as well as length. Unfortunately when I used the ‘intense colour coverage and volume’ end all of that disappeared and I was left with darker lashes but nothing more. On top of that the white primer took some covering which resulted in a messy application and still you can see white.. it even got underneath my lower lashes and I went nowhere near them! I don’t doubt that there are some of you out there that can make this work but I am not one of those lucky few.
Generally a mascara review from me is tricky as I said before.. I don’t have much to work with so either it doesn’t work (90% of what I try) or it does and that makes it amazing!! So although this didn’t work on me at all I wouldn’t let that put you off giving it a go if you like the 2 step dealy. My two favourites remain L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes and Maybelline One By One and unfortunately for all new mascara’s I try they are the benchmark and are tough to beat.
