Flamingo Candle – Vanilla & Black Pepper

Vanilla used to be my go to scent for pretty much everything, from body spray to lip balm to candles I wasn’t interested unless it was vanilla. In recent years however most brands have taken to using an awful, synthetic note to fragrance their products that I just can’t stand. Yankee Candle vanilla scents are just AWFUL to me and don’t even get my started on the cupcake ones.. they are so sickly I can’t stand it. The variety of bad experiences I had led me to go completely the other way and choose fruity/spicy scents which I decided were more grown up and a safer bet to not make me gag.

When Flamingo candles asked me if I’d like to review one of their jars I was spoiled for choice but an old flame caught my attention with a new twist.. Vanilla & Black Pepper. The soft, sweet vanilla mixed with the spicy pepper sounded appealing and once I burned it I knew I’d made the right choice. It’s a more mature vanilla fragrance and if you’re hooked on the original variety I would absolutely recommend you give this a go. I wasnt sure about the packaging at first, it doesn’t look or feel expensive and I must admit had I chosen a scent with a more colourful wax it might have looked a little cheap on my desk but I think this colour combination is pretty classic and from a storage perspective I quite like that it comes with a screw top lid.

I believe the candle I have is the ‘classic’ size and available online here for £12. It claims to have a burn time of 5o hours, I’ve burned it for a couple of full days so far and it’s barely made a dent so I think that estimate could be an understatement but if you’ve burned one of these down and can advise leave a comment because I’m not done with mine yet.

This sounds like a great scent! 50 hours burn time is fantastic and I like it with the white wax and the black flamingo 🙂

I really like the flamingo on the jar, so cute! I’m in the market for some new candles – I’ve noticed my Yankee ones don’t seem to have much of a scent these days after a couple of days burning!

I’m so glad that I found your review. I’ve been struggling to decide which of their candles to buy first. Do you have any other soy-based candles that you’d recommend Kila? Thank you.
