Historically I’ve only shopped at Fragrance Direct for Essie nail polish, they usually have a great selection for only £1.99 each but when I visited a couple of weeks ago there were few to choose from and so I found myself browsing the other areas on the site. I discovered current stock (as in not discontinued) at huge discounts and couldn’t resist placing an order. I bought mainly eyeshadows as I feel like that’s the one area that I don’t think the lower end brands can compare with the beauty hall so I wanted to try some out. Single shadows are generally the best quality but they’re more expensive and if they’re terrible it’s such a waste so I guess I haven’t really gone out on a limb and tried a whole lot for you guys but after this haul I will be trying more. The NYC were disappointingly chalky and lacking in colour but for 50p I can work with them. The L’Oreal was nice and kind of what I’d expect from a more expensive drusgtore brand, especially in a metallic shade but the Rimmel were outstanding. I will be purchasing more from the glam eyes range and though I assume the quads aren’t as good I will have to try them out to see for myself! Lastly I picked up a season appropriate blush from Rimmel because again I feel like I’m lacking in cheaper options in that category and 2 nail polishes from Sally Hansen which I knew would be good cause I’ve tried them in the past (also at discount – gotta love a bargain!) – so yeah.. here are all the swatches.
NYC City Mono Eyeshadow – Basic Instict, In Vogue, Luxury Reborn, Broadway Look – 50p each here
Rimmel Glam Eyes in Spicy Bronze, Fancy Topaz – Both 99p here
L’Oreal Eye Intensifier For Blue Eyes 284 – £1.99 here
Rimmel Blush in Berry – £1.50 here
And finally the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes in Oxide & Ion – £1.49 here
So that’s my epic swatch post for you, you can definitely expect to hear more from me on the Rimmel front as I was so impressed with those shadows I will have to try more. If you have any great drugstore eyeshadow recommendations leave me a comment cause it’s the one thing I’ve always struggled to find a good quality version of on the ‘cheap’ so if Rimmel can do it I’m thinking others might be too.
