Get The Look – Serena Movie

Serena Movie Get The LookTo celebrate the release of the Serena Movie DVD I have attempted (optimum word here) to recreate Jennifer Lawrence’s makeup look from the film. To give you a little background, her character is feminine but strong so her features are defined but even when she’s ‘dolled up’ her makeup is kept fairly simple. Sounds easy but I’m so heavy handed when it comes to colour (which is why I don’t play around with eyeshadow that much/often) so subtlety is tricky for me. Throughout the movie I noticed she had a smokiness to her eyes but no obvious shadow, I chose a taupe cream colour on my lid and smudged an off black kohl around my lash line to try to achieve a similar look. Her cheeks are rosy but with more of a natural flush so I chose a matte colour on the apples. For lips I used a raspberry pink/red shade but applied it sparingly and smudge it to give a ‘just bitten’ lip rather than a bold one. Her whole look is just natural beauty, even the brows are light (lighter in the film than in the poster image above) so it’s all  minimal which as we’ve just seen at The Oscars is definitely a trend this season.

thanks! I’ve actually been wearing something similar a few days since, the less is more works well with the blonde – I’ve definitely been too heavy on my eyes lately

Hi, love your blog and the lip colour. I don’t think it is listed in the products-please could you let me know which one it is?

I wouldn’t even have know that was Jennifer Lawrence if you hadn’t said. They’ve “retouched” the picture so much it doesn’t even look like her 🙁
