Getting The Wang Of Things

OMG!! This bag has been on my wishlist for a year and I honestly can’t believe  I finally have it. I have been back and forth over whether I wanted this original larger size or the newer, smaller Rockie. I had decided before my trip to New York that after reading THOUSANDS to reviews online the Rockie was the one for me, it’s lighter (this is a heavy bag) and would suit my petite frame over this which many said looked like a gym bag on their shorter bodies. I had decided, I had saved, I was definitely buying it.. until I had it in my hands and just couldn’t part with the cash. It wasn’t special enough, it was a total anticlimax when I had it in my hands and I decided I didn’t need it after all.

Since then I deliberated further and decided that although the Rockie is cute and might suit my more it really was the Rocco that I loved, that being said when I tried on in store just a week ago I didn’t love it. Every picture I saw of someone carrying the bag I was totally obsessed with, I loved the casual slouchy style but in store they are stuffed and look totally different. I mention this because if you are in the same boat the bag is completely different once it’s been worn in and the stuffing’s been removed.IMG_9789

It was of course the iconic studded base that had me so besotted with this style but the worn looking pebbled leather was a close second. It so suits my style and although I would absolutely have gone with black (or maybe grey) if I’d had more choice I am so happy I ended up with this Forest green. It’s a bit of a chameleon, looks different in different lights but it’s not too bold a colour that it really stands out yet it wont blend in with the black, white and grey that is my wardrobe. A subtle contrast that is somehow neutral and goes with pretty much everything. The reason I didn’t have the choice of colour (to a degree) is that I bough this second hand on eBay, I got it for an amazing price, less than £500 cheaper than it would be new and the condition is absolutely incredible. The bag overall is worn but the style seems to look better with wear, the only real flaw is a tiny issue with the piping on one corner (you may notice) but it’s on the back of the bag and it’s something that’s relatively easy to have repaired if I wanted to. Honestly I’d have paid more for this and how often does that happen with an eBay purchase? NEVER! Seriously lucked out with this one. IMG_9790

I’m not sure I could have ever parted with the full RRP so I’m super excited to finally have this and yet be experiencing zero buyers remorse. It’s everything I dreamed it would be in my most shallow, meaningless dreams and I will love it forever.

You can buy the Alexander Wang Rocco online (ouch) here or you can get a replica (there are many) on eBay here

Oh I adore slouchy bags. I had one from Dorothy Perkins that I wore into the ground. This looks gorgeous but not sure I would pay full price. Imitation it is!

It is a chameleon colour! I couldn’t make it out…was it faded grey, blue…black, but then when you said Forest Green it was obvious then it had a greenish hue. I love the colour…definitely will go with everything. I much prefer bags that have a more worn-in feel so it’s good when someone else has paid the full price and done all the wearing in for you! Good old eBay! 🙂

Be very careful about how much you put in the bag. The straps break very easily. Other than that, it’s stunning.

Personally I don’t like slouchy bags! I feel like my things need more support XD this one does look really nice though. I like the colour!

    One word, JEALOUS.

I’ve wanted this bag for agggges and due to the price tag I lowered myself to buying a replica… But until I have the funds, it’ll do me just fine. 🙂

Such a gorgeous bag, enjoy it! 😛
