This post is an advertisement feature with Boots UK but all thoughts are my own
I’m not really ‘doing’ Halloween this year, but I love the makeup element and I will (no doubt) be roped in to trick or treating with the kids so when Boots challenged me to recreate one of their tutorials – with a twist – I was happy for the excuse to get out the glitter!
The idea was to take an otherwise basic idea (skeleton, vampire etc) and give it a little something EXTRA.
Since I keep it pretty simple day-to-day I was excited to play with lashes and contour and I almost to the letter followed this Zombie Makeup look you can find on their site. I swapped out some colours and ended up a little more glam than gore, though so I decided to freestyle once I was done, amping up the hollows and pencilling in some ‘veins’ added some clarity, I think. For just a second, I think it was a bit ‘towie gone wrong’, haha!
I’m still not confident applying lashes but If there’s ever a time to try something you’re not 100% about it’s when you can pass it off as ‘costume makeup’, isn’t it? And it definitely added a vampy edge to the look.
I’m going to be trialling some glitters and glues ahead of the next party season so if you have any stellar recommendations, I am all ears. Also, if you already know what you’re going as for Halloween, what are you doing to amp up your look? Are you going anywhere cool or are you wandering the streets near your house, like me? 😉
