Good Things Miracle Mattifier

As you know (or is that too presumptuous?) I have been on a bit of a quest for the ultimate heat/sweat/oil proof makeup and in said quest I discovered this. I was going to avoid moisturisers since I think they add a layer that my skin doesn’t need (feel free to disagree, that’s the beauty of life) but this is really pretty good and I feel like it does make a difference to how matte my face is throughout the day. A little goes a really long way with this and I just apply the tiniest amount in the areas I tend to get oily, t zone, chin etc and wait for a minute or two for it to settle before I apply my foundation on top. Whether is actually controls oil I can’t be sure of (every day is different regardless) but I do know it doesn’t make it worse and for an oily skinned chick to find a moisturiser that doesn’t feel heavy under makeup is in itself a miracle.

Another bonus for this product is that it is free of all the nasties that are present in much of our skin care and makeup.. mineral oil being a stand out. Mineral oil just sits on the skin which is great in cosmetics (I mean you don’t want your skin absorbing foundation, do you?) but it makes something like a moisturiser totally pointless.. it also doesn’t allow your skin to breathe.. not ideal for the perfect complexion let alone those of us prone to blemishes. In my search for long lasting, matte skin I’ve tried a handful of foundations and during this testing period I have broken out and become dehydrated so on my off days I’ve been reaching for this as a base with a little concealer where needed and it’s helped control the oil without suffocating my skin.

Although it’s not quite the mattifying primer I’d hoped for it’s definitely not a dud. It’s a great moisturiser for anyone with oily skin and one that MIGHT help control that oil.. I’m just not totally convinced yet

have you tried rimmel’s stay matte primer and foundation? i’ve followed you on youtube for about a year now and i feel like we’re on the same page with our needs for a matte base and honestly those two products have been doing the trick for me! the foundation is super thick and full coverage and you only need the tiniest amount so i think it’s a good value for money as well. you just need to moisturise (this moisturiser would work perfectly!) before applying the primer and foundation, otherwise it might look like you’ve got a clay mask on 😀

I’ve been on the same quest. My skin has been getting a lot more shiny through the day since the weather warmed up so I’m open to anything that might help keep it under control. I’ll keep an eye out for this one! 🙂

I’m on the same mission as you – the best thing i’ve discovered so far to curb oil is Origins Zero Oil toner – easy to add into your beauty routine and I’ve found it really does stop my face looking super shiny by 2pm!

As an unfortunately oily skinned person I find the botanical shine away day moisturiser a gift from god.
