Just a warning, since I’m on my no buy July kick (which by the way is going swimmingly – albeit painful) you will likely see many wishlist posts. I’m doing a great deal of ‘window shopping’ and making copious lists of things I simply MUST buy when my self imposed ban is lifted next month. Being the impulse shopper that I am it’s actually going to be interesting to see what I WANTED to buy and would have bought had I been ‘able’ and what I still want in a months time. Some of you will be very cautious and think over every purchase extensively before parting with your cash, some of you will be like me, buy now, think later. The first group will definitely have a healthier bank balance but there’s something to be said for impulse spending – so long as you aren’t wrecklessly ricking your rent in the process. There are plenty of things I LOVE and have loved for years but may never have bought had I gone away and thought about it. There are positives to each but it’s interesting to see it from the other side for a change and it may make me think a little harder before buying in future..what? I said MIGHT!

So anyway.. the Grey. I am a big fan of grey living rooms, mine is actually grey right now as it happens but even more so I am a fan of moving things round and freshening the place up. I’ve long wanted rid of my awkwardly shaped sofa and I think I’ve finally settled on this much smaller, much straighter style in.. wouldn’t you know it? Grey. It’s a 2 seater but having measured up a regular 3 seater isn’t much larger and I’m more certain I can maneuver this in to my living room.. that’s been a major concern while browsing sofa shapes. I’ve seen some absolute beauties that can’t even fit through my doorway.. insanity! This is a safer bet and ticks all the boxes for fabric, colour and comfort.. fingers crossed it goes on some massive sale next month and makes my wait extra worth it.

Talking of sales, I spotted this rug in B&Q at the weekend for a massive discount, the smaller size was £30 and the larger (I don’t have the dimensions but it was a HUGE rug) was £50, this is top of my list to run out and buy on the first of the month, there were a few left so I’m confident I’ll manage to bag one, the pattern is awesome and once again.. GREY. I’ve been looking at many other grey accents/furnishings from frames to ad to my gallery wall to insanely expensive candles that I’ve been lusting after for far too long as well as MORE cushions.. my husband despairs at the thought. I love refreshing my living space and once I’ve ordered the sofa I know it will be a slippery slope so expect home decor posts galore in the not too distant future.

How are those of you joining me on the no buy doing so far?

Miss BB

My living room is grey and purple so more than happy to see decor posts 🙂
No buy July is going well for me. Not bought anything yet although I’ve been tempted by a few things.. I’ve been keeping track of what I would have just bought on the spot had I not been on a spending ban and so far would have spent £70! Can’t believe it, it’s definitely opened my eyes to how much I was spending on impulse buys and makes me want to take my time over purchases a bit more in the future. Will you be doing a follow up post at the end of the month to say how you got on?

That candle looks interesting. I’m guessing it’s a smoky, woody kind of scent? I think I might need it. In fact, I’ll take it all! x

I absolutely love grey & all variations of the shade such as silvers etc. I really like the rug from B&Q I’ve been after something like that for a while. My home is a wash of greys, silver, taupe, white & black….can you tell I’m not fond of colour lol.

Super cute selection! I would love to be able to afford diptique candles – though the ones I get from Amphora Aromatics are a great budget buy and they burn like a far more expensive scented candle
