Harrowing Hunt

rag and bone harrow

Okay, I couldn’t resist the title pun but seriously.. I know I’m late to the party but I NEED these Rag & Bone boots! From September-April I LIVE in ankle boots so I feel like I could almost justify the spend and it’s not like I’m unwilling to drop the cash on a designer item but I feel like boots will just get wrecked. I have designer heels I wear sparingly and cost per wear they’re insane but they’ll always be there when I want them.. a few hundred quid on a pair of boots may work out better sine I’ll wear them all the time but they will definitely have a shelf life. Not everyone looks at it that way, I know.. I’m someone who tries to AVOID using up a lipstick because it’s part of my collection.. does anyone else feel this way?

Hudson Horringan / Hudson Lewknor / Marks & Spencer / New Look

So anyway.. long, rambly story short I’ve spent a good amount of time over the past week looking for an alternative to these beautiful Harrow booties and here’s my short list, I haven’t bought anything yet so feel free to weigh in if you have better suggestions or own any of the above and want to recommend/warn me against them.

Don’t you just HATE when you get something in your head and can’t think of anything else until it’s bought?

Miss BB

I just bought the Chloe suede boots from office. I was lusting after the Steve Madden ones but the office ones have a smaller heel and are much more suitable for me for walking to work and when I go to New York next week!! I’m sure one day I will have the Steve maddens but for now the others will do!!

I bought the M&S ones on the weekend (but in brown leather rather than suede) in wider fit I don’t generally but shoes from M&S because they aren’t generally comfortable but these are lovely, easy to wear and I’ve had no problems with breaking them in but they are pretty flat, which works for me but might not for you!

Those Hudson boots might just make it to my shopping cart. I tend to opt for a slightly higher heel, but I’m in desperate need of something a little lower that I can walk around all day in.

A similar style that has been on my wish list for a while is the Harlene boot by Dolce Vita, which is still a bit pricey, but nothing on Rag and Bone prices.

personally i prefer the newlook ones and have a pair myself so comfortable plus if your going to wear them most of the time for winter its not really worth spending a large sum out as we all know the weather in engalnd is unpredictable and they will wear fast with weather conditions and general wear and tear anyway sometimes the cheaper option is best 🙂

Love them all but as tall girl I like flatter ankle boots as I don’t like dwarfing all my friends and boyfriend.

Problem is I have size 9 feet but slender ankles. So difficult to find flat, size 9 ankle boots that don’t look ridiculously big around the ankle. I hate that shoe shop assume that big feet = fat legs as it’s not true!

Longer boots are just as tricky to find so splashed out on Duo boots which are made in different calf sizes last year which I love. Unfortunately, can’t afford a pair of their ankle boots atm.

Any girls out there with the same issue know any good places to buy ankle boots?

I had the same thoughts about these Rag&Bone booties. But I lucked out and caught them on sale so I bit the bullet and purchased them plus another pair. If you like you can check out the post on my blog. I did noticed that Rag&bone has released the same booties this fall season, but just in different colors and the prices have increased slightly.
But once I purchased them I noticed a lot of brands coming out with similar looking if not nearly identical versions of the Harrow booties. DV by dolce vita have a few pairs that look nearly identical to the Rag&bone booties. I’m not sure how easily accessible the brand is in the UK though.

I found the Original factory shop a good place for ankle boots this year. They have a brilliant selection at affordable prices.
