High End Makeup Collection / Glamourcube Review

I was sent this new acrylic storage unit a couple of weeks ago and given that I already have a huge Ikea unit to store the bulk of my makeup and some muji drawers for lipstick I had a hard time deciding what to put in it. The more I looked at it the more I thought it would be ideal for one (average) persons entire makeup but it didn’t entirely fit in with my collection so I decided to split up my high end/drugstore makeup and fill this with what I consider to be a reasonable (you may disagree) amount of makeup. This was you can see how it could be used to house all kinds of products and I could do a ‘high end’ makeup collection video – at the end of this post.

I would imagine the first question you’ll have is how does it compare to my muji drawers.. well it’s a lot heavier, feels more substantial and general looks more expensive (as well it should because it really is) so it’s definitely more luxury than the muji I have. If you’re looking to house lots of different products muji can be tough too as the drawers I have are very shallow.. they do deeper ones but I know people struggle with larger bottles of foundation etc so that’s something to be aware of. That being said this is very much a luxury item.. it’s almost £200 and there are DEFINITELY far cheaper versions on the market, are they as good quality? probably not but I know I couldn’t part with that money. I say that of course but when I repeated it to my husband when it first arrived he scoffed and reminded me how much I paid for my Ikea makeup storage.. he has a point. I guess it’s all relative.. I like to buy more drugstore makeup because I like to save money (she lies) however I then dropped a pile of cash on a pretty place to put it all. I can see how someone with a collection of Chanel or some such luxury brand would love this and think nothing of the expense to have their makeup on display.. all relative.

The Glamourcube feels really well made, came so well packed there wasn’t a chance of so much as a scratch upon receipt and if you have the  cash to splash and a collection you want to show off I would definitely recommend it.. if you don’t have that kind of money I do love my Muji and on a super budget WH Smith do amazing stationery drawers which are PERFECT for makeup storage. I don’t intend to keep this drawer set, it’s big and I already have enough space in my Ikea drawers so I am giving it to my friend, Caz who has promised me a guest post of her own makeup collection once she’s all organised. I thought it would be interesting to see how different people used it as well as her thoughts on the Glamourcube for any of you seriously considering purchasing it.

I love this, I don’t mind the price at all, my make up is worth more than my TV, more than my Camera and I want to keep it safe and stored well, so I would totally invest in something like this. I have been thinking about getting some muji storage so will have a closer look at this

I agree, I defiantly wouldn’t be able to part with so much money for some plastic draws but for someone with a lot of makeup I can see why it would defiantly be worth it.

Great post. The storage looks fab but like yourself and Daisy think that there are some awesome cheaper alternatives. It’s interesting to see how others store their beauty products though. Your blog is a fave of mine by the way, keep up the great work. x

the way the lid on top works and the price would both really deter me, but it was fun to see just your high end stuff together 🙂

Are there any cheaper versions that come with as many draws or would you have to stack cheaper options such as Muji? 🙂
I really want some acrylic storage but can see the price adding up with the need to get more than one set. But it looks so pretty and useful.

Seems crazy expensive for what it is, I even thought my Muji 5 drawers were dear. I’d rather spend £15 on some drawers/boxes in wilkinsons and the remaining £180 on more make up.
But if you’re only filling it with Rimmel eyeshadows then no, it’s not really aimed at you like you’ve said.

I just use stationary drawers from WHSmith myself, they’re pretty and since I don’t like see through storage they work best for me.
