IMATS/London Haul

IMG_5844

If you were in London this weekend and are reading this now you were probably there for the same reason I was.. IMATS. In my 3 and a half years of blogging I have never been (can you believe it?) so this year was a bit special and the fact that they scheduled it for summer rather than my birthday weekend in freezing February was just an added bonus. Of course that also meant I had to wait 18 months for the next opportunity rather than just 12 but it was a great weekend and totally worth the wait. I did vlog while I was there (you can watch that here) which I know some of you were looking forward to seeing but if you’re anything like me you were more excited about what I bought! I didn’t actually buy that much at IMATS itself, I couldn’t resist the 60% off at NARS (who could? This HUGE palette was £12.50 for crying out loud) and really wanted one (maybe two) of the Lime Crime lipsticks for their packaging alone but I couldn’t get anywhere near NYX and MUFE discounts didn’t seem great enough to queue so that’s pretty much all I got. Don’t get me wrong I’m more than happy with my haul but I spent more outside of the trade show..a lot more.

You guys know I’m not one for crazy spending spree’s but I decided to allow myself a blow out girlie shopping weekend and I did not disappoint.. had my share of panic over my bank balance when I got home but I’ve made my peace with it now. back to saving again. I bought exclusively mid-high end items which I know is not entirely ‘missbudgetbeauty’ appropriate but we all deserve to treat ourselves from time to time and of course I have to try some beauty hall brands to tell you that drugstore is just as great, right? I plan to condense all of this in to a weeks worth of blogging I have pre-dubbed ‘splurge week’ so look out for that soon. I thought that throwing in a generous handful of NARS etc over the course of a month may confuse new readers so we’ll have a theme week and get it all out of the way, how does that sound? I finally picked up a YSL glossy stain to compare to my L’Oreal – spoiler alert, you get what you pay for – and am beyond excited about the Smashbox Brow Tech… I will absolutely repurchase that, £19 or not. So all in all it was a very successful trip. One quick thing to mention, I didn’t actually purchase the brushes this weekend but they were on my list to check out at IMATS so I thought I’d include them. Crown actually contacted me the week before to ask if I’d be interested in reviewing any of their brushes so I was very lucky to get my pick beforehand and not have to negotiate the crowds at that booth. They’re really affordable and have lots of ranges for different budgets so I will be reviewing those soon and in the meantime you can watch my haul video here or below..

NARS products are so pretty, and beautifully packaged…but usually too expensive for me. 60% off is amazing, I think I would go a little crazy! πŸ™‚

I have the exact same eyebrow problem, love rimmels one but its now too warm AND too dark.. Been trying mua pencil as much lighter colour but horrible texture and by the end of the day my eyebrows are completely uneven, looking forward to this new pencil review, sounds like a god send if it lasts!

In terms of the Caroline Hirons comment, I’ve (spookily) been using the same loreal water cleanser and face wash as you for several months now, and went to her blog, could she make cleaning your face any more complicated/expensive!? Just seems silly, do you think you need to go as far as she does with a daily routine? Hopefully your updated routine will be on here soon, but any pointers in the mean time would be much appreciated!

I think the older you get the more willing you are to invest in your skin and I have infinite time for mine.. Just a much smaller budget

    Hi,
I loved your recommendation of the smashbox eyebrow pencil-I am ΓΌber fair hair/skin and I too use the Rimmel hazel eyebrow pencil but in the summer it is just too dark. Did you get the smashbox pencil in taupe? Thinking about giving it a go!

Me and my mum were looking out for you on Saturday and were so disappointed when we didn’t see you! I picked up a couple of things from Nars too and was stupid enough to join the humongous que for Nyx!
