If you were in London this weekend and are reading this now you were probably there for the same reason I was.. IMATS. In my 3 and a half years of blogging I have never been (can you believe it?) so this year was a bit special and the fact that they scheduled it for summer rather than my birthday weekend in freezing February was just an added bonus. Of course that also meant I had to wait 18 months for the next opportunity rather than just 12 but it was a great weekend and totally worth the wait. I did vlog while I was there (you can watch that here) which I know some of you were looking forward to seeing but if you’re anything like me you were more excited about what I bought! I didn’t actually buy that much at IMATS itself, I couldn’t resist the 60% off at NARS (who could? This HUGE palette was £12.50 for crying out loud) and really wanted one (maybe two) of the Lime Crime lipsticks for their packaging alone but I couldn’t get anywhere near NYX and MUFE discounts didn’t seem great enough to queue so that’s pretty much all I got. Don’t get me wrong I’m more than happy with my haul but I spent more outside of the trade show..a lot more.
You guys know I’m not one for crazy spending spree’s but I decided to allow myself a blow out girlie shopping weekend and I did not disappoint.. had my share of panic over my bank balance when I got home but I’ve made my peace with it now. back to saving again. I bought exclusively mid-high end items which I know is not entirely ‘missbudgetbeauty’ appropriate but we all deserve to treat ourselves from time to time and of course I have to try some beauty hall brands to tell you that drugstore is just as great, right? I plan to condense all of this in to a weeks worth of blogging I have pre-dubbed ‘splurge week’ so look out for that soon. I thought that throwing in a generous handful of NARS etc over the course of a month may confuse new readers so we’ll have a theme week and get it all out of the way, how does that sound? I finally picked up a YSL glossy stain to compare to my L’Oreal – spoiler alert, you get what you pay for – and am beyond excited about the Smashbox Brow Tech… I will absolutely repurchase that, £19 or not. So all in all it was a very successful trip. One quick thing to mention, I didn’t actually purchase the brushes this weekend but they were on my list to check out at IMATS so I thought I’d include them. Crown actually contacted me the week before to ask if I’d be interested in reviewing any of their brushes so I was very lucky to get my pick beforehand and not have to negotiate the crowds at that booth. They’re really affordable and have lots of ranges for different budgets so I will be reviewing those soon and in the meantime you can watch my haul video here or below..
