Okay, I know.. I’ve been slacking but I’m getting back in to it now, I promise! We were away (as you know) and the kids have been off so my routine is all outa whack but tomorrow will be business as usual so I thought I’d give myself a push and post something ‘proper’ today. I received this gorgeous Jouer set just before we left for Vegas and one item won me over so quickly it replaced something I had intended to take with me. My first question is this, do ALL of their cosmetics click and slot together or is it just a specific travel set thing? If they do this might just be the beginning of something beautiful as I’m a huge fan of custom stuff and if you can slot together a bunch of products that’s effectively a palette.. right? It’s just such a quirky thing, I really hope it’s a brand wide quirk and not just a one off. While we’re on packaging it’s also really compact and practical, no extra bulk for the sake of it just really usefully sized items. Thumbs up!
This set comes with a beautiful blush leatherette travel case which wowed me immediately however the matching detachable makeup ‘purse’ stole the show as I’m more likely to use this more often.. in fact it will be making it’s way in to my handbag to contain my essentials shortly. The makeup items included are a gloss in Blush, cream shadow in Feather and (the winner is) a blush in Blossom. The blush is just the most lovely spring shade, doesn’t look like anything special in the pan but it’s almost luminous.. not in that it’s a garish bright colour but it look like a glowing pink/coral rather than a flat, dull one.. are you with me? Something I wouldn’t have reached for but that’s made me want to try more from the brand.
There are 5 brushes within the larger travel case held in suedette pockets – all super lux feeling if you’re looking for something a bit nicer than your average – but with a plastic guard where the brushes lay in an attempt to avoid dirty marks on the blush pink interior. Impossible I’m sure but a nice touch all the same. The brushes are nice and slightly different in shape to the others I’ve collected over the years so they don’t feel pointless if you already have a set. The pointed/domed foundation brush is a stand out, unusual to get a foundation brush at all let alone one that isn’t the generic flat shape. I would likely use this for contour but there are no rules when it comes to this kind of thing and it’s nice to have a bit of variety. Still one of my favourite things about the cosmetics is that they lock together.. just such a fan of these odd things but it’s something that sets a brand apart and appeals to the collector in me.. and I’m sure others. Great little kit for a great price whether you’re looking for a travel makeup bag or just an introduction to Jouer and somewhere to house your current face.
