Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Concealer

I’ve had the concealer for a few months now, usually something cosmetic I feel I can review straight away as I’m not waiting for a promised result, it should just do what it does instantly.. with this it was a little tougher. I initially used it in a Get Ready With Me video and remarked at the thin, oily texture which was totally unexpected. A full coverage product is usually thick and creamy but this was bizarre.. many people suggested I may have a dud, some said they experienced the same texture and others said I might just need to shake it up a bit. I think the latter was probably correct as if I knead the tube a bit before use it thickens up a little.. just a little mind.

If I’d reviewed this concealer straight away I’d have said ‘don’t bother, I’m binning it’ but I’ve tried it a few times since then and I really don’t know. It’s nowhere near full coverage so if you were thinking you could actually cover TATTOOS with it you’d be mightily disappointed but I think it does have it’s place in my make up stash. I used it below alone with now foundation, I put a little under my eyes, around my nose and on my chin and although it doesn’t do MUCH it’s just enough to take the edge off my makeup free face. I wouldn’t buy it again as a concealer but as almost a travel friendly sized foundation.. I might. I will keep you posted if I discover a love for this but for now it’s a bit of a miss.. oh and whereas a lot of reviews I’ve read describe it as weightless I could definitely feel it.. it’s that odd greasy (probably silicone) quality that doesn’t sit well with me. Kat Von D products aren’t available here in the UK yet but I’d be interested to hear from any of you that have tried this as it was so unusual. – Now Sephora ships to the UK you can buy it online here – I have the lightest shade, Light 16

I’ve just bought the lock it foundation, it’s really thick, still yet to do a full face with it though. Has anybody used it before?

I hadn’t heard of this brand before – need to get through all of my samples before trying anything new!

It doesn’t seem like its worth getting in my opinion. I can see a difference in the before and after but if you want to have a make up free day you could just use a normal concealer or even just put a little dot of foundation on the stuff you want to cover. I can’t see the sense in a light coverage concealer, it just defeats the purpose.

I am still wondering if you got a dud or if they have changed formulas since I purchased mine like a year ago on the clearance isle at Sephora. I bet they changed formulas and that is why mine was on clearance, because mine was a thicker creamer and definitely had more coverage than yours.

I was super excited when I got it a couple years ago. I wanted to have something to cover up my tattoos for Job interview and sadly it did not work. My husband even tried it on his tattoo and nope it came of super easy even with the lock in Spray. I think that actually makes it worse. I think I was just expecting something else and this one did not live up to my expectations.
