Kneipp Bath Oil

I got this is my British Beauty Blogger Beauty Box a few months ago and it’s definitely not something I’d have picked up otherwise. The packaging doesn’t appeal and the scent.. lemon? The bottle is glass which was a surprise.. is it just me or does it look like cheap plastic? Even having received it I probably still wouldn’t have tried it had it not been endorsed by Jane (BBB) herself but she said it was fantastic do I had to give it a go, didn’t I?

First of all the scent.. SO strong, it’s like stepping in to a liquid lemon sherbet.. bizarre. A little sickly and lemsipy for my liking but I’m aware there are other fragrances available so I wont hold that against it. The second bizarre thing I noticed was the colour it turned my bath water.. bright yellow.. it looked like, well.. I wont say what it looked like. Not massively inviting and may be difficult to explain if someone walked in on you in the tub.

As bath oils go it was okay, it left that film on my skin which it what I’d expect but the scent did nothing to refresh or uplift me and the whole neon yellow water thing really didn’t do it for me either. All in all it was a bit of a wash (pardon the pun) but I do have a rather exciting bath soak on the way to me so don’t think this will be last of the bathing products from me.. I feel like I spend at least 20% of my time in the bath or bathing someone else (the children, not the husband) so anything to makes that slightly more interesting/enjoyable is something I want to try.

I received the other variation of this in my box (I forget what it was called, it’s all gone now) and I really liked it. It turned my bath bright orange which I suppose is a bit better than yellow and the scent was really calming. I don’t think I’d go out of my way to try it again though, it’s a bit expensive for what it is!

Hey there, just wanted to let you know about the actual pronunciation of Kneipp. It’s K-nipe (coming from a German!)

I’ve got 6 of these and love everyone of them. They all do for different ailments, but mostly just to de-stress and help you sleep. They also do all scents in bath salts also, and again they’re great. Yeah ok, so they colour your bath water, but I can’t see that when my candles are on, and I’m just relaxing in my bath, but even seeing it wouldn’t be off putting for me, I love the results.

I received the orange one in my BBB box which I was pleased with because i really don’t like lemon scented products. I really wanted to like it as I needed a cheaper alternative to the Aromatherapy Associates bath oil that I was so close to justifying the £40 (gulp!) price tag for… but I couldn’t. I found this disappointing. Jane said this was a last minute addition to the box so I expected extra special things but I found it created loads of bubbles at first that all went after 5 minutes. I wasn’t so keen on the smell and really dislike the branding and packaging. So back to Aromatherapy Associated I go…
