Lancôme Parisian Nights

IMG_3650Ahhh.. Christmas packaging. I love my budget beauty but nobody does Christmas quite like the luxury beauty counters, do they? Would you believe this is the first product from Lancome I have ever tried? Even I was surprised but I took a look through my collection and sure enough.. it’s a new brand to me. I’ve heard great things abour Lancome foundations and mascaras over the years but very little about their eyeshadows and having swatched the palette I think I can see why. The selection is very pretty and the composition is absolutely beautiful in the palette – don’t even get me started on the amazing rippled casing, which was so difficult to photograph I had to include two pictures – but the eyeshadows themselves? Not so much.

They’re very festive and glittery, very pretty to swatch but the intensity isn’t there and wow betide you actually try to wear them, I attempted a smoky eye with a glittery overlay to include in this post and I have to take it all off because there was glitter EVERYWHERE. The fallout is insane, definitely one to apply BEFORE your base! I really wanted to love this but I can’t in good conscience tell you it’s awesome when I know I wont wear it.. that being said if you’re a glitter freak and don’t mind sparkly cheeks it might be right up your alley and the packaging alone makes me happy to have it sitting in my collection but would I buy it? Absolutely not.

Have any of you tried Lancome shadows? Are they all like this or have they just added insane glitter for Christmas? I almost want to buy another palette just to see…

I have never bought Lancome, but these do look rather lovely!

Yes! I have a Lancôme quad and the quality of the shadows is AWFUL, one of the ones with “glitter” in it goes as far as scratching my eyelids and has absolutely no colour payoff. Infact I said “have”, I actually threw it out the other day it was so awful!

Oh gosh that’s not what you want at all, is it!?

I own quite a few Lancôme eyeshadow palettes, but not of the new range like this one. Their older palette format contained excellent shadows – I own Jade Fever (brilliant), Sparkling Intoxication (Gorgeous) and some of their Asian products – mint greens and a grey toned palette. These have all been very good. However, some of their newer offerings have not been up to the mark, considering their price. It is a shame when a high end brand offers substandard products like the above.

I think eyeshadows are so hit and miss with high end brands.. I’m happy to splurge on a lipstick but little else

Aaah what a shame! I haven’t tried any Lancome products myself but this is disappointing considering it isn’t cheap!! Looks lovely as well, the packaging is gorgeous! x

I got a similar pallete last year in a Christmas gift set and similarly as much as i love the packaging i was quite disappointed with the quality of the eye shadows! They were creasing on my lids and the glittery colour would end up all over my face. It’s a shame because it was my first pallete (and that of high end) ever, so it put me off for quite some time before i decided to invest in another one but this time i got it spot on (naked 2) 🙂

Urban Decay shadows are the creme de la creme for me

I just couldn’t justify buying a tiny palette for that price. Not when I just got the lorac pro palette off amazon for the same price as that including deliver and tax.

When you compare it to Lorac I can definitely see your point lol
