I have wanted to try Lanolips for the longest time, I think it was gemsmaquillage who spoke so highly of them originally but much as she told me I needed them I just never picked them up so how happy was I when they sent me some to review. I honestly don’t know what I was waiting for but I did realise that much as I’d heard great things I’d never seen a full review and had no idea what they were like other than GREAT.. not very descriptive. So when I finally opened these up I was really surprised.
I expected a sheer tinted lip balm but they’re so thick, not sticky but much heavier than I expected and the colour was also much stronger, translucent jelly-like gloss is my best explanation. Bizarrely the original lip treatment is a totally different texture, it melts so although it appears fairly firm out of the tube it’s very liquidy on the skin/lips as you can see above. It also contains lemon which is a natural exfoliant so while everything from the range with hydrate and treat your lips the Lemonaid will also help keep them super smooth.
Lastly something I wasn’t expecting was the ‘applicator’ Lemonaid has one that can be used directly on the lips (though I wouldn’t recommend it – it doesn’t work well) and the colourful lip treats have to be applied with your finger, you’d think they’d have designed it the other way round, no? Regardless I have no issues with the packaging whatsoever I just wanted to show it to you because I was so surprised and I thought maybe if I’d had more info I’d have actually bought one.
So far I’m more impressed with the Lip Ointments with Colour rather than the Lemonaid Lip Aid. I prefer the thicker consistency, I love the feel of them on my lips and for a day to day splash of colour they’re great. I will be wearing these for work from now on, for sure as they stay put better than any colour (or balm for that matter) I’ve tried and I hate touching up my makeup at the office.
