Laura Mercier vs Stila All Day Gloss

IMG_4179There are SO many lip products from the Sephora set – link – to get through and SO many Christmassy posts coming up that I’ve decided to double up on a couple so we can speed through them a little faster. For those wondering, so far I’m really impressed with the set and would recommend it however I want to try EVERYTHING before I give you my final verdict.

IMG_4171IMG_4170IMG_4172IMG_4173On the chopping block today we have Stila Stay All Day Vinyl Lip Gloss in Nude Vinyl (top) and Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Blush (bottom) which I put to the test yesterday. In all honesty I can’t test each of these lip products out for an entire day each so I tend to choose the ones that claim to be long lasting so I tried on the Laura Mercier but then wore the Stila. I went out for coffee with a friend, ate lunch etc and it really does stay put however it’s VERY sticky. I’m not big on gloss so it’s not my favourite formula but if you are you might just love the Stay All Day because it does just that. The colour was a little warm for my liking, more orangey than pink which is not the most flattering on me but might be for you. The Laura Mercier was a more standard gloss, sheer and comfortable to wear, one I’d reach for but not special enough to make me want to buy more colours. That being said I rarely think lip gloss is worth spending money on as unless you’re using it all the time it has a far shorter shelf life than a lipstick so (at least for me) it’s likely to ‘go off’ before I get through the whole tube.

For one each of these products is actually readily available in the UK (hurrah!) – you can buy the Stila online here for £15.00 and the Laura Mercier here for £19.50

I have always wondered about the Stila Vinyl Glosses but from what you said, they sound too sticky. I do however love the Laura Mercier gloss I have!

I’d say get both but by looking at the amount of products I have stuffed in my bathroom drawers, I don’t know if that’s good advice 🙂
