Leather vs Classic Uggs

After Christmas there were some MEGA bargains to be had in the sales (as I’m positive you all took advantage of) but these boots were by far the best deal I snagged. I had wanted a new pair of Uggs for our trip to New York but had been putting it off because they’re just so darn expensive and I wanted to save as much as I could to spend while we were there. Many of you told me I’d get a huge discount buying the states too so that was also putting me off (though FYI with sales tax the difference was minimal in the places I looked) but I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a pair anyway.. TECHNICALLY I bought two..

IMG_1253IMG_1248I bought the regular pair first at full price, it took me an age to decide in the height but I plumped for the short in the end. I had considered the leather but they looked shiny and very different to the regular ‘suede’ look ones which I didn’t like.. plus they were slightly more expensive so I decided against them.. that was until the next day when they were suddenly half price. Needless to say I ordered a pair for comparison and was hoping I’d love them since the discount was huge. While I had both pairs I thought it may be useful for those of you in the same dilemma to see some comparison photos, I even made a video which you can see at the end of the post.

The regular version felt very flimsy, not at all like my previous pair.. thin, really odd. The leather pair unsurprisingly felt more substantial but somehow the thinner in the lining. The leather ones seemed to have a less flexible sole and were also really tight on the top of my foot and I was concerned that they would be too stiff and uncomfortable to walk in. I kept them and I can confirm that they softened up quickly and are very comfortable and extremely robust, after a week in New York they still look brand new, I don’t think I could have said the same for the others.

I read a lot about sizing prior to ordering the boots and despite advice to the contrary I found them to be true to size. I bought a 4 and a 5 (my usual size) and the 5 fit better, although given that they are 2 different materials that’s really just an FYI, hard to truly compare.

Lastly I was really happy with the finish of the leather boots, they look nothing like this online so I wasn’t expecting this matte/nu-buck looking leather, they don’t look crazily different to the regular boots and I think they will weather well while remaining weather proof.

Regular are £150 here and leather are £160 here – they took away the discount after we shared the link so much about 30 of us bought them, the power of social media 😉

I need some new Uggs and was going to take advantage of the sales I saw after Christmas but I wasn’t sure if Uggs had had their day a bit. I wish I’d got some now because they’re just so comfy and warm I couldn’t care less and I’m not going to stop wearing them! The leather look ones are amazing, I really like these.

that’s hilarious they took away the discount, thanks for sharing though glad some people took advantage of it! the weather here is always raining so uggs wouldn’t work, but the leather does seem more durable.

Hmmm I’m not sure I’m an Uggs fan anymore, I find them really unsupportive.

I picked up the brown leather “Noira” Uggs whilst in Boston before we headed to NYC, literally the best purchase ever! Warmest, cosiest boots, waterproof too!
