Liquid Gold Before & After…

So many of you have requested I do my follow up to my first impression post that I decided it was about time I did it. I started using Alpha-H Liquid Gold about a month ago and saw instant effects. My skin cleared up, scaring seemed to improve and it had never felt smoother, however I expected to constantly be in awe of these benefits with regular use but they do wear off. Well.. not ‘wear off’ as such they just don’t seem as dramatic and so you stop noticing them. I’m seriously tempted to stop using it for a few weeks to see if I can recreate that first wave of amazing-ness but am aware that although I can’t see constant improvement it may be keeping my skin balanced and if I stop using it it may all go a bit bleugh again.  I know that my combination skin responds well to glycol based products but I suppose I expected my skin to look better and better as I used this but much like my Clarisonic I’m tempted to believe that this is one of those products that I’ll be glad I kept using in 10 years time when my skin still looks young and fresh. Here are some attractive before and afters..

I do think that the tone and evenness of my skin has improved but I’m not looking at these and thinking WOW!! Other than the lighting and that I was probably a bit blotchier in the befores there’s nothing that would compel me to continue to spend that chunk of money on a liquid to smear on my face at night time. That being said I probably still will. I think it’s doing something and I know it did something initially so even if it’s just keeping on top of that initial improvement maybe it’s worth it? I don’t know. The main reason I put off this follow up is that I just don’t know if I can recommend it yet. I still have more than half a bottle left, it will see me through to mid-October is my guess which actually makes it pretty good value at £36.76 (for 200m here) but it’s not cheap and I will be looking to trial some alternatives from the drugstore to find those of you that just don’t want to pay that another option.

I will review again when the bottle is finished to give my final thoughts and whether I will bite the bullet and shell out another 36 quid but until then I’m undecided. I loved it at first and I don’t dislike it now.. it’s nice to have even if you just use it to clear your skin when you’re suffering a monster breakout but I just don’t know if it’s doing anything super special for the super price tag.

Have you tried Liquid Gold? Thoughts?

Miss BB

I’ve been putting off getting this for SO long. I picked up the Botanics facial serum which has AHA in it hoping it would be a reasonable substitute. So far so good but I’m still after the Alpha H! Thanks for posting these pics up 🙂

I know I love glycol and look for it in everything but I’m considering moving on to more drugstore stuff like the botanics that contain it rather than this.. I think my skin misses the moisture on my Liquid Gold nights.. but I dunno.. I swear I loved it at first so may just be that the initial improvement stage is wearing off

Yeah I thought considering the price and how everyone was hyping it id see massive improvements to my skin with liquid gold! it does make it feel so soft the next day, but other than that im not seeing a tremendous change! im glad i bought it to try but cant see myself trying it again! have my eye on other gly… acids! (cannot remember the name for the life of me!)

I do think your skin looks brighter/ fresher overall. I ordered this a couple of days ago, waiting for it’s arrival! I’m 25 so am not overly concerned about ageing or anything yet but I do have quite a bit of acne scarring from my teens, mostly on my cheeks and chin. It is fading verrrrrry slowly and I’m hoping this will speed up the process and make my skin tone a bit more even. We shall see!x

my main issues are acne scarring and patches of discolouration also so I’m hoping over time my skin will just look a bit amazing lol.. asking too much?

Boo. I think i am a little bit disappointed by its performances. Is it because most of the people who I kknow who said loved it are perhaps older than you, i don’t know. I am convinced this is a good product but you know, i wouldn’t mind finding a cheaper alternative. Surely there must be a way to sell glycolic acid safely for cheaper. It’s not gold leaf is it? x

yeah it sucks a little bit but I’m gonna keep it up because like you say I think it has anti ageing benefits I’m not noticing because I’m still relatively young however I should still be benefiting from them in the long run!

Have you ever thought of trying the paula’s choice version? About half the price. Though I’d be careful about using all this exfoliating stuff on your face and your clarisionic at the same time.

no I’ve never heard of it but will definitely look it up! My Clarisonic is really gentle, I have the sensitive brush head but I appreciate the concern x
