L’Oreal Wild Ombre

front

Do you recognise the guest face in today’s post? It’s LauraLovesBeauty! She’s just come back from The Dominican Republic (not jealous at all) and her naturally dark hair had lightened in the sun (especially her roots) so she wanted to take it up a notch for Summer and I of course insisted on getting involved! We used the L’Oreal Preference Wild Ombre Kit in no. 2, it’s technically the one formulated for light brown to dark blonde but I knew Laura wouldn’t be happy with the lift from the no.1 kit. The general idea is that it gives a more subtle ombre than if you were to use a regular pre lightening kit and unless you know your stuff it’s the easiest way to get low level bleach at home. In the box you get a brush to apply the formula with which is great but I didn’t feel like it was applying enough product so ended up just using my (gloved) hands instead. The brush would be great to blend that line between the dark and the light though and I would imagine it would be very handy if you were doing this by yourself and couldn’t totally gauge what was going on at the back of your head.

Because Laura has layers I wanted to make sure that not only the underneath got a lift so I brought the colour up to frame her face a little and attempted a ‘sunkissed’ streak look at the back.. not awesome but not terrible.. I’ll do better next time.  I really wish these kits had been around when I was a brunette, I would have been all over them!!!

I think it turned out really well and would definitely recommend the kit if you’re looking to lighten your ends at home. Take it from someone that has done pretty much every horrifying thing to her hair, this stuff is pretty much fool proof so long as you take care to blend and don’t leave some crazy harsh line.. unless that’s the look you’re going for in which case knock yourself out!

Available online here for £6.99 and you can see Laura’s hair ‘in action’ in her lastest video here
