L’Oreals Answer To Bioderma?

IMG_5046

Can you believe that until this I’d never tried a micellar water? I know, I know.. but they never appealed to me. I don’t use a makeup remover I double cleanse my face at bath time and so I didn’t think I’d appreciate a product I’d had to buy in from France so I never bothered. I heard so much about the different variations that were almost/just as good from brands more readily available here in the UK but even then.. when would I use it? I’ve never had an issue with getting ‘every scrap of makeup’ off my face anyway.

So why did you buy this? I hear you cry.. well.. I decided I wanted a toner of some kind to refresh my face pre-makeup in the mornings. My biggest beauty ‘sin’ is not washing my face when I get up, more often than not I apply my makeup on to the residue of my evening moisturiser and where I’ve never knowingly had any adverse effect from this I know it’s lazy and lets face it.. a bit grimy. So.. I decided I needed a routine I could stick to (where all else have failed) and that would have to be something I could keep by my vanity. I now use this to basically cleanse in the morning and follow up with a day cream with SPF.. huge improvement. What I was looking for in this 3-in-1 Purifying Micellar Solution was something that would cleanse, not sting my eyes and leave no residue and it ticks all of those boxes so for the purpose I am loving it but I know some of you will be looking to this as a replacement for makeup remover so.. I’ve been trialling it in the evenings too.. just for you!

I’m still cleansing as normal but I leave my eyes and use this after my bath and before my lotions and potions. It does remove all of my mascara etc and it’s extremely gentle on my eyes.. no stinging at all.. however it dissolves makeup in a way I’ve never seen before. It breaks it up in to tiny little bits and rather than seeing a wipe of black on the cotton pad I see teeny tiny dots and if you’re not diligent you will find yourself with a smattering left on your eyes.. really strange. That being said you don’t need to work to remove waterproof mascara or liner it really does dissolve them, it can just a get a little messy in the middle. Overall I really like this and because I really dislike oils or bio-phase formula’s I would pick this over any other I’ve tried but I’m not sure how it compares to other micellar waters because I’ve never tried one but if you have.. let me know how you think this holds up.

I can’t find a a link to buy online but I picked mine up on offer a few weeks ago at Asda for £3.. I believe the RRP is £4.99

I’ve never tried any micellar waters before, but this sounds quite good so might just have to try it out!

Oooh! I’ve never tried micellar water products either, I use face wipes for everything and sure, they don’t remove every scrap of eye makeup, but as an expert mascara picker – I’m rarely left with any by bedtime anyway! Howwwever, I have just started using a new product for my acne, which needs to be used twice a day on 100% clean skin, so I have to remove every single trace of makeup. Big headache for me because I can be really lazy with makeup removal (“that’s probably why you have acne in the first place” they all pipe up!). Long and short; this may be just the product I need! Hopefully Boots have some in this afternoon. xx

nor had i but this is so much more effective than face wipes but a similar price point when you consider cost per use and cotton pads

Ooooh I shall have to try this! I’ve heard that you can get a micellar water from a brand called ‘B’ in Superdrug too!

This looks interesting! I’ve seen a few similar ones like this before but never tried them! I’ve always been curious as to what Bioderma is like but I might give this a go instead, Thanks for the review! x

I’ve heard of people getting it for as little as £2 so shop around while it’s still on offer lots of places

Hey! Just thought I’d let you know that Superdrug’s own brand line has also come out with a Micellar Water. It’s called B. Pure and I recently reviewed it here: http://ohnotjustaprettyface.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/B.%20Pure. Overall, I basically agreed exactly with what you said – it’s good, doesn’t irritate my super dry skin but B. Pure doesn’t pack the punch in terms of removing waterproof make up. I think I might give this one a go once my B. Pure on runs out – they’re the same price!

I hate the oily residue that is always left when I use an eyemakeup remover. I have never heard of a micellar water until I read your post so thanks for the info. I am definitely going to give it a try.

Thank you so much for introducing me to this. I’ve been buying Bioderma for about a year on ebay now and I love it. However, the L’Oreal version works just as well and it’s half price in Superdrug at the mo so I’ve stocked up!

I’m interested to try this. I have the bioderma for oiler skin & i’m really disappointed in it. So not worth the hype! (or price tag).
I work nights & am often too knackered to take my face off properly so want something i don’t have to wash off! Thanks for the info!
