MAC Desert Rose

I’ve had this blush in my collection for a while now.. probably 2 years if I’m honest and it’s just not one I reach for often. I’ve mentioned in the past about my heavy hand and how I struggle with super pigmented face products, this is the reason I’ve neglected Desert Rose. It’s beautiful, especially for winter as used correctly it can give a natural flush that gives the illusion you’ve been frolicking in the snow but it’s not often I can get it right.

My go to blush brush is my large angled Sigma which in truth is not ideal for a product such as this as it picks up a lot of pigment and can make it tough to blend but old habits die hard. I recently tried this with a small stippling brush from ELF and it was much easier. I love the colour and I’m going to persevere but if any of you out there can offer any tips on light application of powder products I’d be more than grateful.

Online it’s described as a ‘soft reddish burgundy’ which I’d agree with, it’s matte which I prefer but I do find the matte formula’s aren’t as blendable as the sheertones. If you can make it work it’s gorgeous on and I think it would suit most skin tones.
