MAC Fashion Revival

IMG_3564I love me a new MAC lipstick and can you believe I still have another unused waiting to be photographed from MONTHS ago?? I know.. expect another post soon on a colour dangerously similar to this one. I couldn’t resist a purchase from the new matte lipstick collection, I’m not sure whether any or all of the shades were limited/re-promotes etc but the one that stood out to me was this, Fashion Revival. A deep plum/berry tone.. yummy Autumnal goodness.

IMG_3565IMG_3567Super opaque and beautiful to apply for a matte formula, almost creamy.. surprisingly so however this was a bit of an issue down the line. My initial impression was favourable but it never really set to a true matte which was disappointing and at bled. Not a lot but even a little is annoying when most matte colours half the price stay put. I’m not sure whether this new collection was a new, re-formulated matte as the others I have from the brand are excellent but this was a bit of a miss in that department. Gorgeous colour that I’ll definitely get wear from but I’ll be reaching for a lip liner to prep next time. Is there such a think as a matte top coat for lips? *runs to google*

I love MAC’s formulas but I have to agree with you on some of the mattes… I believe it’s a ploy to get us to buy the matching lip liner, bringing a ‘Mac lip’ close to 35€. The colour is gorgeous though!

Oh I love this colour it reminds me of revlon lip butter in raspberry pie! I’ve decided that rather then getting a beauty box each month I’m going to get something from Mac! This has just jumped to the top of the list along with velvet teddy!!

I LOVE this colour but the fact that it bled really puts me off especially with the amount you pay! You look beautiful however!

The colour is so beautiful! It’s a shame about the formula though, might as well spend a bit less for something similar!

This shade suits you really well, it’s very similar to the MUA lip crayon in the shade irreplaceable I think! x

Hey! I totally agree with you on the MAC Matte Collection this year. Last year I found that their Matte Lips Collection was actually way more matte and stayed in place. When I swatched this year, I was a little shocked to see some were actually really creamy and smudgy. A sales associate at MAC actually sold me this product claiming it would make my foundation matte, like a primer. Well it didn’t work as a primer but after reading it being a multi-purpose product I tried it over my lipsticks. It makes ANY lipstick MATTE!!! Genius product, like I almost never buy a matte lipsticks now (lying because I’m a huge makeup junkie but still).

Here’s the link! Hope this helps! http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/793/343/Matte/index.tmpl

Such a beautiful colour! Pity about the formula though. Have you tried the translucent powder over a tissue trick?

This reminds me of Rebel but a little bit darker. I love shades like this, especially for winter time. Can see me testing this out the next time I’m in MAC if they have it. 😛

The colour does look so lovely on – what a pity about it bleeding! I am not sure about a matte topcoat but maybe you could try Lipcote & then dust it with some powder before it dries to make it matte?
